I believe it was Abraham Lincoln that said that owning your own property is the essence of freedom, but with property tax you never truly own your own property. If you refuse to pay, the government will take your land from you. We have to pay property taxes for the rest of our lives if we own our own home.

​@Pjayjay pretty sure roadways and other paths of travel are managed by our yearly vehicle tax/state registration? Why else would the weight of our vehicle make the price go up? Pretty sure it was to penalize owners of heavier vehicles contributing more towards road/bridge/infrastructure repair?

You forget the other taxes that pay for the community. Local tax, gas tax, and sales tax.... not to mention the service fees for using literally anything like schools, hospitals, health insurance, license plate stickers, water bill, electric bill, sewer, and and sanitary district.... we're already paying for the community... the property tax is to ensure we never own anything and they never pay anything.. separation of wealth. That's what he said in the video.

Some call it 'Land Tax' too. It's usually paid annually. While mortgage, homeowners insurance and bills ect. are paid monthly. Many homeowners take on a tenant or 2 even in a seperate investment/income multi-family property to cover property taxes, utilities & the maintenance costs for the upkeep of the asset.
