Regarding tongues, one must study the first instance tongues was used, as in Acts 2, when the Holy Spirit came and gave the disciples the gift of tongues...and its a language that was understooded by others, verse 6, "when they heard this sound, a crowd came together.....each one heard their own language being spoken" NIV Acts 2

The crazy thing about people quoting Acts 2 is that they ignore 1 Cor 14: 2. The Bible says he that speaketh in an unknown tongue, speaketh not unto men but to God, indeed no one understandeth him. Praying in tongues is meant to be un-understandable (if that is a word lol) because you are speaking to God. The reason for the Tongues in Acts 2 also is for people around the apostles to witness the wonder of God the Holy Spirit and it is also another type of spiritual gift. But speaking to God in an unknown tongue is valid and biblical. When it is used to address people, the Bible says there should be an interpretation (which is another spiritual gift) 1 Cor 14: 27-28. Praying/speaking to God in tongues is in your own best interest. They are mysteries that even the devil cannot decipher.

@@SkkyyC thks for your reply, seems these two verses contradicts?..i believe in 1st instances when something was introduced in the Bible, it tells me of the original usage. So to resolve this contradiction, i would think there are 2 possible usages of tongues...first in Acts 2 with known tongues (understandable)...2nd usage in 1 Cor 14:2, to pray in tongues to God, will be unknown tongue....i will need to study further in this issue...thk you
