I've always had so much trouble with proportions, and since I couldn't get those, my drawings always looked a bit off and super stiff! This helped so much

The longer drawing at the end is amazing. Makes a really good argument for following the advice that came before it, lol. I like how it takes the "idea" of the pose and exaggerates it to make that idea stronger and more clear to the viewer. Great video. Thank you.
@AlexHuneycutt3 жыл бұрын
Whew, I'm glad it shows through. I had to try again with that final demo because the original standing poses didn't turn out so well! Exaggeration is so important for standing and static poses, like sitting also. Finding those tilts and counter balances are a good way to work on it.

As an intermediate artist who’s begun to plateau in terms of progress I found this video very helpful when returning to the drawing basics!! The ambiance was also quite relaxing 👌

On the verge of stabbing myself in the head with the pencil because no, I canNOT see proportions or the shapes of gestures.

Thank you so much This video helped something just click in my brain. I’ve always struggled so much with proportions but now I’m already way more confident about getting it right

I really liked this video, although for the last part I'd prefer to use the method taught by "Love Life Drawing" where you take into account the shape and angle of the torso and hips and work the rest from there

I find the first half super easy, where if I draw the bounding boxes, then I can translate that to the page and fill in from there. But when I try and imagine the shapes and draw them, then compare after, I get it so wrong. I really don't know how to improve.

Hey Alex, can you share your playlist of music that you listen to? Seems very chill to have running in background.
@AlexHuneycutt3 жыл бұрын
I'd love to share a playlist some time! The songs playing here are royalty-free tracks provided by KZbin, but I do listen to music exactly like it in my own time. I'll see about putting something together. I usually slap everything I listen to for the year into one big playlist on Spotify, but that makes the styles jump from hard and fast to smooth and ambient, it's not really curated. Glad the music is a nice add to the videos!

thank you for the video mate, really helped me to understand something i couldn't even think about, but i'm struggling with to draw people when they wear clothes or need to draw pose in perspective, torso is nice but legs can be bigger or smaller, wider or thinner, same with legs.

Wow this is why some artist just draw random lines then suddenly beautiful drawing come up thanks
@rafsandomierz53135 ай бұрын
The lines are not random, the lines serve as a map for people that do not understand all the rules yet and so using lines helps to put things in order. It's like going into a place without a map, you will not know what points and roads the place has and where all roads of the place lead to without studying the map first. It's impossible to understand something without having understanding first even when born with it.
