Pros and Cons Living in Boston | Is Boston Worth It?

Hello Everyone! For some weird reason, some of the comments that I replied to are not showing up here. There are a few people who asked why I chose Boston over NYC and I can gladly make a video about that in the future! I appreciate all of your support. I live in Rhode Island, not far from Boston, and my favorite daytrip destination is the Trolley museum in Kennebunkport Maine, a comfortable ride from Boston, also, Nashua New Hampshire is not a long distance, so you can take advantage of the no sales tax in NH, go shopping it does make a difference and New Hampshire is another beautiful place for nature-lovers: white mountains, Mount Washington, whitewater rifting on the swift river , fresh air at the white birches campground and these are in easy access from Boston , even Montreal Canada isn't too far and yes Boston itself is full of wonderful places to go and see; yes it can be snowy, but at least there are no hurricanes nor tornados And one more thing : fort Independence on Castle Island in South Boston is such a relaxing family-friendly place I love it, you can watch the planes take-off and land at the nearby Logan International airport there!

Boston is great, but many of the apartment buildings are older with tight hallways and narrow staircases. This can be problematic if you've got a bunch of large furniture that you're trying to move in. The North End, Beacon Hill, and Bay Village can be particularly problematic in this regard. Just something for folks to keep in mind.

That's actually a really good question! I know sometimes if it's listed with an agency there could be different agents posting the same one. But since I don't work in real estate I'm not too sure!

Listings are put out on MLS most of the time so any realtor can show it and split fees with original broker / office. Initially it may stay with one office for a week or so but then they open it up to all so they can rent it faster

It's ridiculous with the broker thieves. That's not a typo. I saw them ruin Somerville in other places the bully the owners get bullied by the agents. Just keep raising the prices. A month's rent for doing nothing

Thanks for this information. I'm sure that many people prefer to live close to Boston, but is it less expensive as you get father away from city, and more into the suburbs of Massachusetts?

Prices do drop the further away you are from Boston, but even the closer suburbs north and south of Boston are still pretty expensive now with most 1 bedrooms over the $2,000 mark. You best option for affordability is to look to the suburbs west of Boston, and even there you'll likely have to go out 30+ miles before prices become more affordable. Like in the Worcester area for example. The good news is that MA has a commuter train that goes all the way out to Worcester, MA (2nd biggest city in MA) that connects you to downtown Boston.

Bare minimum apartment here is 2,700 a month and that’s if you want to live in the hood that is in the middle of gentrification, a.k.a. Dorchester 😂

Don’t move here unless you are making at least 120k a year or you will just be paying your rent, groceries, and utilities and maybe a coffee or two 2️⃣ 😅
