Interesting. I thought about getting into IT consulting at one point, but I ended up getting married and my wife would not appreciate me falling into the road warrior lifestyle. My dad did it briefly and I remember the angst it caused my mom growing up. Consulting is definitely something to do while you’re still young and (relatively) obligation free.

Great and very informative video! I can see some similarities in my line of working and I am thinking to switch to consultancy in the future. I heard you saying in some video you are a Change Management Consultant, though I think I have a vague idea what this mean it would be great and interesting if you could make a video on your type of consultancy. Once more, thanks for posting great content and looking forward to watch a new video on your channel. Take care and safe travels!

Hi I am a transfer student who is going to University of Southern California (USC) and I did not take the SAT because I didn’t think it was needed since I was going to a community college. However now that I have been looking into consulting, I have read that some firms require SAT scores. I am wondering how big of a deal is the SAT score? My friend who does consulting for one the big 4s said that you can put did not take on the application. I am wondering how much would not taking the SAT hurt my chances of being a consultant. If the SAT is important, what if I take the GMAT and get my MBA, will the SAT still be important? Thank you in advance, I love your videos and how much information you provide!

I was approached recently by a MBB firm about an associate position. Was happy at first, but now I’m not sure if the work/life balance would be worth it. I’m 30 with a wife and young child and already have a good paying job that’s full time remote. Trying to figure out if the higher compensation would be worth the travel and stress. Leaning towards no right now
@bykchoi3 жыл бұрын
Depends on why you would make the switch and what opportunities you're looking for out of it. Not sure if taking on an associate position at this stage would be the best for your work/life balance, but all depends on the bigger picture, I suppose! Good luck!

Is consulting similar to project managing? There seems to be some overlap like not being tied down to one specific industry or business sector, being brought in to companies to specifically work on projects etc...
@bykchoi5 жыл бұрын
Project management is definitely a part of /skill you need when you’re a consultant!
@ingridaampiah3 жыл бұрын
How many projects at a time do you work on? I guess it's safe to say depending on the length of the project? Like some don't have tight deadlines and therefore, you might have 4-5 projects but some will close in a year or 6 months but you are running them simultaneously.

I'm really interested in consulting but I know that you have to have a degree in business and marketing and I know that requires math and I'm not good at math :(
@ethanluc89085 жыл бұрын
You just need basic maths: adding, dividing (percentages) and multiplying. I would say more important is your logic. Logic is the engine that drives your maths. Maths can be practised. Don't discount yourself just because you're not good at it now; if you have the structured thinking, the logical turn of mind, then that's what matters most
@bykchoi5 жыл бұрын
It’s not exactly required to have a degree in business and marketing (if you can join a consulting club at your school or something that would be very valuable), and depending on the type of consulting, math isn’t necessarily the most important skill!
@aishac49815 жыл бұрын
Not sure if it’s the same where you are but I’m in the UK and got a consulting grad job having studied ancient history, having been a member of consulting society etc. I’m bad at maths but taught myself arithmetic again for interviews :)

Question, do you have to look for clients or do clients look for you? Do you have sales quota?
@stephandden4 жыл бұрын
That's not quite how things work! I work at a Big 4 firm and we do both - so we find more business/clients but they also come to us based on reputation and perceived value. With regard to sales quotas, you don't really have any definitive targets as its not a sales role, however, the expectation at the consultant level is to be staffed on projects that are bringing in money for the firm (billable hours). I actually just shared a video on what consultants do at a Big 4 firm ✨
