How come you switched careers? Why didn’t you like it? I’m currently doing my bachelors in CJ rn and I’m slowly starting to hate it & it sort of gives me depression lol. I was always set in being a probation officer but now I want to apply to an ultrasound tech school.
@jasminemarecia Жыл бұрын
I didn’t like the work environment and it was stressful plus I wanted to go to another position and was passed up for it. I think if it’s causing that much pain you should look into the ultrasound tech. Sometimes what we want to do is not what we were meant to do! 😊

Hi Jasmine. This is helpful! This is the career I would like to take on and I'm currently working on my bachelor's for justice studies. May I ask what was your educational background that led you to this career? What was required of you to become a juvenile counselor in your city / state? Did they require bachelors or masters? Hoping to get in touch with you soon. Thank you!!

Hi my child 15 yr old wrote on restroom divider in school wrote like 3 things he got citation from police they have come high school..we got court date..but a probation officer reach out asking for interview n ask for my child social n birth certificate n school grades and my paystubs and marriage license...we have court again she said more likely it will get dismissed..but why did she need all my child info specifically private stuff when we haven't gone to court...i didnt give her social but other stuff ..can i get the copies she took i feel uncomfortable her having them when my child didnt murder anyone or did something big...
@jasminemarecia Жыл бұрын
Hello. The probation officer was obtaining information for court purposes. The judge will ask he/she questions regarding the child that they will need to know. I’m not sure why they would need paystub or your SSN but I wouldn’t have given that information either. Yes you can request copies and if she had to write a court report for your child you can request that as well.

If I were you I wouldn’t work/live in a big county such as Wake or Mecklenburg. The cost of living is more and the more you have to deal with caseload wise. I would do smaller counties like Orange, Cabarrus, or Union.

Is there a salary difference between adult and juvenile? Which one did you like better?
@jasminemarecia2 жыл бұрын
Yes Juvenile Justice was between $40,000-$45,000. Probation was $35,000-40,000. I preferred Juvenile Justice. My caseload was between 10-12 kids but it does require a lot still.
@kevintaylor99162 жыл бұрын
@@jasminemarecia thanks, what makes you prefer juvenile over adult? Is it the case load?
@jasminemarecia2 жыл бұрын
@@kevintaylor9916 Yes! I really enjoyed helping the families and getting services in place for them. For the adults it wasn’t many services for them and most of them were set in there ways so it was kinda hard to work with them. At least with the kids they were willing but it took ALOT of motivation to get them involved.

@jasminemarecia Жыл бұрын
All juveniles had to abide by a court order and that comes from the judge and in regards to being strict I would so no because as court counselors we can make suggestions but it is ultimately up to the judge to impose harsher punishments on the child. I can request to have a child detained but when the court hearing happens the judge can easily let them out. It’s more so about rehabilitation.
