waiting for adequate people to move in to Bastrop. The New Colony is a very nice subdivision.

Quality of life is about to take a big tumble when Elon moves in. Cost of living is about to skyrocket also.

How do you think the main street downtown of Georgetown compares to Bastrop? How do you think of these two quaint towns? Thanks!
@AustinTexasLiving Жыл бұрын
That's a great question - The Square in Georgetown is a little bugger and more livelier than Bastrop. But Bastrop has more breweries and distilleries vs Georgetown's wineries (if you drink). Personally, I like the restaurants and setting in Georgetown better.

@@williecarter5105 For decades it is known to be Klan Country due to massive opn private stretches of land and wooded area, and last decade or so, turned into extremists, as bad as Vidor Texas, where a Black friend and I were told to not get caught walking town after dark. and we noticed kid or Black & Brown kids playing on a dirt floor Basketball court, next to a Brand new court, the Hotel manager saw us looking at them, and he said "You know why them kids don't play on thr new court...Cause they know better."

@@FrankC71 damn I’m from Bastrop. You know the name of the hotel? To me the town always had an underlying racial town tone to it

@@williecarter5105 Sorry sir, I do not remember, it was not a big chain, I do recall it was across the way from a play ground next to a school, when on the road we'd stay in cheap hotels cause usually we just slept for like 6 hours then hit the road again, if you're a Minority, please be careful in those towns.

@@FrankC71 Don't know much about Vidor, but I am from Bastrop, unfortunately there are always some racial overtones in the south anywhere you go, but in all my years living there I never once heard of it being a Klan Country. Texas in general is Militia country, Bastrop is nothing exceptional there. They love their guns. That being said its beautiful, affordable the schools were good. Lots of good restaurants and probably the nicest old town type mainstreet in Texas, but over the last 10-15 years or so it has been flooded with folks from Austin and buisiness expanding down 70 to the point they had to redo the highway and now its pretty much being absorbed into Austin. You can still go through the small town part, but its a shadow of what it was. Great memories I loved it, but Mom is finally moving away this year she cant take the prices and the Austin politics I loved it, but will probably never be back
