Cincy is a secret, for now. We considered Raleigh - we got priced out. Cincy is where Raleigh was around 1999… by the time people know about it, it’ll be ridiculously expensive and those prices are rising. Relatively moderate weather by midwest standards, excellent school districts (in the expensive suburbs) and not a lot of traffic/overpopulation.

I'm from Canada (Ontario - north, then south) have been here for 4 years. Pros: Love that it's so wooded (grew up Northern Ontario where towns are 60 miles apart with nothing but forest in between them), love the bike trails and hiking opportunities, love all of the breweries! Cons: Very hard to meet people here (most people are from here and have friends from their childhood, they even ask you what high school you went to instead of which college/university). For similar reasons, it's hard finding someone to date if you're single.

I grew up in Cincinnati, I left in 2012 to move to Seattle where my brother was living, and he convinced me to move. Seattle is great but it's no Cincinnati. I was 41 when I moved so Cincinnati is a part of my genetic makeup. The one thing I always tell people, who after finding out I lived in Cincinnati (and once they stop singing the WKRP theme song) is what was the best part about it. I would say that it was a mid-sized city with big city amenities. It's great, because it's not too big, but we are not left behind when it comes to the latest and greatest things a big city usually has. We are like a big city that wasn't full of itself in a sense. The people are great, always will be. It's beautiful, the river is great and my trips to Newport and Convington were great as well. The Bengals did make it to the playoffs in the 2000's but the QB got sacked/injured early on. We had high hopes, but the fill-in QB wasn't as seasoned as he could have been. I am not a huge sports fan, but I do enjoy going to games, but I'd be lying if I were to say I knew all the names :) I did sort of at the time though. After I moved, they started getting better, and like you said they made the playoffs like five years in a row. Seattle is a huge sports town, in the same vein as Cincinnati. They are diehards and sometimes it's tough being a fan here as well. Though they did go to back-to-back Superbowls when I first moved here (or around then). I always say that when Seattle plays, I root for them UNLESS they are playing Cincy. However, if Cincy loses, then I am not as heartbroken as I would have been when I was living in Cincy. It's kind of like my team didn't win but my second team did, if that makes sense. So, it takes some of the sting out of things. You forgot to tell everyone that we put the chili on spaghetti. Everyone thinks I am mad until they taste it. Until Amazon Fresh started carrying Skyline Chili, I had to make do with Hormel. Not the same, but kind of made it less unbearable. Also, I remember in grade school, and we would all love it when we got chili spaghetti for lunch. Though it was a bit crazy hearing a bunch of fourth and fifth graders getting excited about a three way. lol. It's like "awesome, we're having a three way today!!" Oh, to be young and innocent again :) I do miss the main Public Library location. I used to do a lot of writing there and I did a lot of reading/researching things just for fun. I learned a lot about history and old Hollywood and old Comic strips that way. Cincinnati had so many options and so many activities you could do even if you were broke (which is how I grew up). I lived in Over-the-Rhine back in the 70s until about 94 then moved to College Hill and then off to Colerain Twnshp. So many great memories. And going to Sawyer Point and walking along the Serpentine Wall are memories I will always cheris.

The old part looks really nice and kind of European to me, but the newer buildings are like any other modern building in the US. I wish they would construct more classical architecture again. And they need to get rid of all these parking lots and create more green spaces. American cities have too many parking lots. I have never seen that in Europe. People should use more public transport instead.

I watched this video 2 years ago before moving to Cincinnati and now that I've moved and lived here 2 years, I'll have to say overall, it's very nice, but there are a few things I DO NOT like. 1. Taxes are really high. 2. There is zero food diversity. Locals THINK there's a great selection of food, but it's basically all burgers, fries, and pizza. Case in point, nearlly all Thai restaurants also sell Sushi... enough said there. 3. People are generally really nice, but they are really unaware of life outside of Ohio and US. It's hard to have a conversation with someone unless you're talking about sports. All in all, the pros listed above are all true, and is a good place to live.

Exactly why it's a TERRIBLE idea to use public tax dollars to build sports stadiums and then expect some kind of benefit to occur.

the public transportation is so old, the street car goes to no where, the weather is terrible, depressing on the winter and so hot in the summer, not really like it but l was there for more than 30 years. I have a business there and just going to visit some friends and family, but love where I am now.
@noblehouse55953 жыл бұрын
Yes. I visited here and considered making it home, It was a minute of insanity. I can't afford it. I have to use a service dog and if I can't take her with me where I need to go, then it's not a place I can be. I'm an epileptic and she's been trained to assist me so I can live independent. I have multiple skills so I could work part time in different area of employment. I was also looking at going back to college. I was interested in a degree in either Law or English. But it's not affordable for anyone older middle age widow who is drawing disability.

Cincinnati is a cool town kind of a little secret there's a couple of them Buffalo Omaha Kansas City Minneapolis. They'll have a great vibe something is always going on. And unbelievable food scene and the people are super super nice which is completely underrated I've been to all those cities many many times and they're all fantastic and kind of a little secret

I spent a day in Cincinnati and loved the place. Part of it was it was April and still cold and crappy in Minnesota. We came down the hill into Cincinnati and it was green and warm! I did love the downtown and the people seemed so friendly. I also loved the old architecture downtown

As somebody who grew up in the Midwest, my biggest advice to people here. Experience life outside the Midwest to GROW as a person. Even if it's just going away to college. Seriously. A world exists outside the Midwest.

My husband and I are contemplating moving to Cincinnati …. We have a pet domesticated mini goat (she really is quieter/behaved better than most dogs) and have read that there is no ordinance against having goats as backyard pets…. Do you know where I could find more information on that?
@TeamSztanyo3 жыл бұрын
Easiest way would be to call the zoning departments of the areas you would consider. I do have some friends with goats. 🐐
@neildillon41772 жыл бұрын
If you move anywhere in the Western half of Boone County you won't encounter any goat issues, same for Southern Kenton/Campbell.

If Tesla moves into Cincinnati, the cost of living there will quickly go up. Also, Cincinnati now has the #2 ranked team in the AFC (summer 2023).

One thing they don’t mention in these videos in the social life. People in this city are MISERABLE and HATERS. Keep your friends far and your enemies further here. Otherwise. I love it here. I’ve spent the last 3 years learning how to keep to myself and my wife.

We have been shopping for a building lot and it seems like they sell at a real premium. Either the production builders buy up big tracts and throw up cheaply built houses, or the lot is an individual one where you have to spend more money to tear down the existing house before building.
