I have lived in Columbia over 5 yrs. now. It's quaint and charming if you are looking for a smaller, southern town. Everyone loves the downtown square, however, there are buildings off the square that are in disrepair, but it's sora cool to see what Columbia was like in the past. The area is growing, but not at a very fast pace. Hoping for better shopping areas in the future. We still have to drive to Spring Hill or further north just to go to a movie. There isn't much to do here and there are only a handful of good places to eat, but the parks are nice and spacious, especially River Walk and the shops downtown are pretty neat. The Mulehouse is a very cool newer venue for live music. In my opinion the hospital is very dated on the outside and inside. I briefly worked there and, compared to others in the area,.... could definitely use an update. Overall, Columbia has great potential, but should address the declining neighborhoods in various parts of town and also ramp up economic development.
