I live in rural state in a town with less than 1k.. there is literally zero opportunities. Everyone knows you and your business. Very difficult meeting/ connecting with new people. If you don't have a car, you're completely screwed in life (like I am now). It's a nightmare actually. Maybe if you're already established in life and financially stable and just want to live in the woods next to a cow pasture ... sure, it's fantastic!

In Idaho it depends on where you live for the public transport if in the larger city there are plenty of options, but out where I live there are school buses and the buses that transport workers out to the site.

As someone who was raised in east Texas, in the Summer it gets quite hot and humid. I now live in the central part of Texas, and we still have hot Summers, and sometimes it gets a little bit humid, especially before it rains. Also sometimes early in the morning its chilly and then in the afternoon the weather turns to hot and sunny. So yes, this video is pretty accurate, lol. But despite this, I still like living here.

Alaskan. Both are true, though they make up for a lack of state tax with higher rates on what taxes we do have. Also, yes, we have cold winters, but also hot summers. It's a dry heat though, so it's not as bad as it would be in Florida.

I am from Connecticut and I have not seen one genuinely rural part of the state. The smallest communities you get are small towns surrounded by large amounts of woods, but never tiny settlements, farms, or villages like in the Midwest.

I must defend Oklahoma. Technically yes, we are "landlocked" but we have many beautiful lakes with thousands of miles of shoreline. As far as mostly boring terrain, I suppose that is in the eye of the beholder. I will say that what most people who have never been to Oklahoma, think of when they think of Oklahoma's terrain (flat treeless plains) is a thing. I makes up about a fifth of the total area of the state, out in western and northwestern OK. Actually most of the eastern half of the state is quite forested. I have been to every state in the union except for Alaska and a couple in the northeast and Oklahoma's terrain is anything but boring, and more diverse then most.

I can agree about California being expensive but there’s some affordable places and things in California you can look into. It doesn’t matter if your state is expensive or not, it’s how you deal with it. My plan is to move back to California and make it work for me despite of the outcome that might occur. I grew up in California and I’m aware of the crime ratings being high but that’s not gonna stop me otherwise

There are cities in California that aren't expensive to live in. Fresno isn't the most exciting place to live but it's pretty cheap. However, if you wanna live in places like the the bey area and LA you better be prepared to pay a lot of debt. Even smaller apartments will cost you.

It was interesting that winter weather was sited as a con in several states that cannot hold a candle to the ones where winters are truly horrendous, namely North and South Dakota along with Minnesota. Yet in not one of those 3 states was winter weather the con. In a few states I'd say the con was actually another pro.
