Another big con to note is that while the city is developing, this comes with a lot of disturbance. Constantly new towers going up and new developments being built - lots of dust from construction, traffic is also really bad

Macc is a great town with plenty bars, resteraunts and very close to the peak district. Its obviously not a city but its 30 mins from Manchester on the train and rent is much more affordbale than Manchester

Twenty years ago Ileft Didsbury, Manchester. Didsbury was regarded as the best area to live, not that you'd notice from the home and car insurance. Both cost more than Brixton in south London. Manchester is a dump. It is grey, wet, full of crime and drug gangs. The local council is a joke who employ people regardless of their ability to speak, write or even understand basic English. I had to deal with one such clown over housing benefit. She still got it wrong. This is the council where nearly everone in the housing benefit section is on the fiddle. There has been more than one prosecution and imprisonment for fraud. It was the happiest day of my life when I left and we hit the A6 south back to civilization and competence.
