Pros and Cons of Living in Mount Pleasant SC

I visited Mount Pleasant a year ago and fell in love with the city. I love the little outdoor malls, it was so unique. However, the pricing for the homes are off the cuff very close to California prices that surprised me.

What neighborhood/community is it at the 11:00 mark? Looks really nice to be able to walk and drive next to the water, which seems uncommon in MP

That is I’On! It’s one of Mount Pleasant’s most unique neighborhoods because of that. Definitely a cool spot!

What is food shopping like ?

Lots of options in Mount Pleasant! Bigger name regional stores like Harris Teeter, Publix, and Lowes Foods, along with the only Trader Joe's in the greater Charleston area. Plus Whole Foods, Walmart, farmers markets, etc, so there's quite a variety here.

You probably served me. Louie D use to play there every now and then. Granddaddy and my uncle owned and built the MtP Seafood, west side of Shem Creek. back in the days when it was all shrimpboats. I was in the Wando band. I was in the 1st full class of Wando, 9-12. As we talked before before the traffic problem was due to locals not wanting to grow properly. The fake uppity reputation is from the transplants that snub their nose at people, not the true locals, we can't stand them either.

Oh cool! And wow that's awesome that they owned that. I bet it was beautiful when it was all shrimp boats. And very cool about the band! I wish I could have been in their band. I went to school in Charlotte and was a band nerd all the way lol. And yeah that is too bad about the traffic and the fake reputation.

@@KatarinaWestRE Let me tell you the truth about Shem Creek. The east side was owned by the Magwoods (say hi to Mel at Triangle WA) the west side owned by Tolers. It was filled with shrimpboats end to end 3-4 wide on each side. There were 2 restaurants The Trawler where Tavern & Table is and Loralie (spelling). The docks were rickety fixed pier made out of creosol wood that bleeds oil into the water. The boats were not like today, the engines leaked oil in the bilge and the sewage was pumped overboard, septic water from the buildings drained into the creek. The dead bycatch was pushed into the water. So Shem creek was a commercial nasty polluted stinky fishing dock. People in the town complained about the pollution and the smell. All that being said there were so many shrimpboats and the view from the bridge and ease of access made it one of if not the most photographed fishing piers in the country. Regulations and developers priced the shrimp fleet out of business

@@davebrunson125 I love Triangle WA! One of my favorite restaurants. And wow that's crazy. I figured it had a much different feel back then but I had no idea about the oil, sewage water, pollution etc. I guess it's a good thing regulation came in for that part. I have heard the water quality there is still one of the worst places in Charleston, but I just assumed it was from the restaurants and all the boats passing through.

Just a thought on Mount Plastic: = Up to their eyeballs in debt just to live there. It's all credit. "plastic"
