HI, I enjoyed your presentation on living in Repentigny, Quebec. My husband’s family lives there, So, I have been visiting it since my youth. It is amazing the changes that I have witnessed… I began seeing him in 1990 and made a trip there from Ottawa (where my family lives). I am now 55, so I’d have been able to visit it many, many times. I even lived in Montreal for a while (in Ahuntsik) and commuted to McGill every day by car. After having lived in many places over our lifetimes, we have decided that Repentigny is not for us. For the following reasons… 1) you can always hear the highway from the centre of town 2) we find the driving to be not that great… maybe it is because we are always driving to his parents house which is not that far from Rive Nord… and it just feels like the city planners have done a poor job in their planning because we have to intricately cut through the shopping centre to get to his house… and 3) there is a new cultural centre, which is very beautiful, but there are no interesting plays to see and nowhere to go to dinner first. Commuting for these small pleasures, especially at 55 should not be necessary… there are no movie theatres in Repentigny either, big faux pas and no hotels. Maybe one day it will meet (my personal requirements) but it is not there quite yet. For these reasons, we have decided not to retire in Repentigny. I am also anglophone, so that doesn’t help either. However, Repentigny has become, over the years a beautiful place to visit. We love our trips to go see and see Grandpapa (recently widowed). We now live in Libertyville, Illinois, U.S.A.

Really useful information. Thank you! Have you by any chance made a video about Terrebonne? I am moving back to Canada in July and would like to purchase a small condo in that area. Any suggestions?

Good morning! Good idea for a Terrebonne video and I should do one in 2023. If you are thinking of buying a condo in Terrebonne next summer, you can send us your contact info at info@gabriellaflamme.com and we will schedule a quick zoom call with you. A few times a week, this is exactly what we do, we help people actually living outside of Quebec and/or Canada plan their next real estate purchase. Following the zoom call, we will be able to show you good deals specifically in Terrebonne and also show you the comparables sold in Terrebonne for the condo market. We are there to help! I'll wait for you email. Have a good one

Moved from Montreal to Repentigny, it is a gost city. Even day time you can't find people outside, after 8 pm, all lights are off and looks like you are in a horror movie. Culture is different here, almost zero communication, nobody invites each other to their houses, if you speak English, you are famous, nothing fun, no single kid playground in the area..unless you are coming from Montreal, forget about having fun, go bed at 8 pm and go to the work at 6 am, that is your life

You have touched on an important point, it is a pretty quiet Town; to be entertained, you have to go to Montreal. Other than that Repentigny is a quiet and safe City, would you agree? Thanks for you comment

Salut Gabriel, I lived in Montréal for 30+ yrs of my life, and I have family scattered all over the place: DDO, Laval, Brossard, Anjou, etc. So I KNOW the conditions, varieties and nightlife of pretty much every area in and around MTL. Two years ago, I had the opportunity to choose between these different areas to raise my family. I was looking for an area with great potential growth, no orange cones, no cyclists who think their Formula 1 drivers, low crime rate, offers large square ft of land to host family / friend events, etc… and Repentigny was for me, the flawless winner. Why?: Yes, it’s far from downtown for nightlife… but how often are you happy spending 18$ for a drink when you get there? Yes, it still has light traffic coming into the mtl island from the 40 ouest… but aren’t you fed up of staring at the Point Zero building or Rockland center while in traffic on the 15 sud? Yes, it doesn’t have a metro… but have you smelled the inside of an STM bus / metro lately? Bottom line is, when u read that “people in Repentigny are the most happiest"…. It’s cause… it’s genuinely true.
