I’m thinking to move from UK to Australia for its lifestyle. I’ve been to Adelaide before and I have friends there too, I like Adelaide but I also quite like the modern feeling of Gold Coast, tropical weather and easy reach to the beach, despite I’ve never been there. Would you say Gold Coast cost of living is the same as Brisbane, or is one city more expensive than the other?
@HopKiwiTravel3 жыл бұрын
I would say the Gold Coast and Brisbane are pretty much the same. We were looking for a unit in Brisbane and prices near cbd are similar like on the Gold Coast near the beach. So for example my friend is paying $500/week in gold coast, 2 bed unit, 5 min walk from the beach. In Brisbane you can get nice apartments in west end, with pool and gym. However bare in mind that now prices in gold coast are sky rocketing as there is no ppl renting and real estate agancies are ridiculous with prices.

@@HopKiwiTravel I just came across your videos and I like them so far. I'm about to watch another as soon as I finish with this comment. I'm born and raised from Toronto, Canada and I'm strongly considering moving to Queensland in about two years or so and I'm trying to gather up as much info as I can. I'm really interested in Brisbane and Gold Coast. But I'm also looking at Townsville. I'm just trying to pinpoint which city is best in terms of affordability and finding work since I would be moving there on my own. I'm really considering going back to school this fall for powersports technician. I'll pretty much be working with motorcycles and jet skis. I would assume Gold Coast or Brisbane are full of motorcycle and jet ski riders. Would you say that Gold Coast/Brisbane and surrounding areas are safe to live in? @@jimmynestro5979 hi Dave, we are glad you like it. We are just finishing the next video about Covid situation. So stay tuned. But about cities, we would recommend either Gold Coast or Brisbane, coz Townswill is ages away from evrywhere and it's very small. Brisbane does not have a beach so for jetski and motorcycles Gold Coast is much better. Gold Coast is quite safe, just avoid North of Gold Coast like Pimpama, Coomera and avoid Surfers Paradise!!! And South of Brisbane like - Logan. We live in Nerang which is consider not that safe but to be honest it's perfectly fine here. All inland suburbs are nice and green. @HopKiwiTravel4 жыл бұрын
hey, I do not know how it's gonna be next year but now it's a really good time to find a job due to Jobkeeper. Australians are getting so much money from the Gov that for some it's not worth it to come back to work if they can get money for nothing. That creat a chance for us, migrants to fill those positions. Obviously, there are mostly shitty jobs in hospitality but for a casual position, you can expect around $26-28/hour (before tax).

Hi Rigden, I live in a granny flat (garage transformed into the small studio next to the main house), in Carrara, so not a city centre but around 15 min drive to the beach. And it's $350 per week (plus $700 bond and $350 paid upfront, so one week ahead). I'd not recommend Surfers Paradise where most of the students live because if you don't like drunk schoolies, drug addicts, loud music from local clubs - choose any district south from Surfers. And my personal advice = if you do not need to study in Australia - don't do it. It's THE worst place for studying. Super expensive, but the quality is sh**. You will just become an ATM for Australians. You better study in Europe, however there it's going to be hard but at least you will learn something. :)

yes, it happens quite a lot but not everywhere. Places you should avoid at night is Surfers Paradise. Everything south from Broadbeach is pretty OK, with nice places to go out. Surfers is crazy and full of drunk tourists, schoolies and junkies. then Pimpama and some other north districts have a big higher come rates so if you can go more south.

hi, Polish and Mexican. :D We are not PR so it's hard to say. But surely the first thing is your occupation on the SOL list, if it's not there, no chance for PR. But to even get to PR you need to be on either a sponsor visa or a skilled visa. Do you have one of those?

I'm from Peru and Im a bachelor in business administration. I am planning to move to australia due to pandemic and other stuff, but I'm not sure if it's worth to do a postgraduate certificate in business (costs around 15k and takes around 6 months) to get a good job related to my carreer. I'm asuming without it It would be impossible to find an office job related. Or should I go and just study english (to get the visa) and then study something else? Like a short carreer?. Hope you can read this. Cheers!
@HopKiwiTravel3 жыл бұрын
Hola, Braulio. If you already have a bachelor, you can try to do diploma recognition so it will have more value here, but it won't give you a visa to stay. As well studying only 6 months it's not enough to get a postgrad visa, so after 6 months you will need to study something else. To be honest, studying here is pretty shity, in terms that you won't learn much = it's a money-making process. So just choose something cheap and the best something that is on SOL so you will open a pathway for the skilled visa (but for that it takes years). As well on a student visa, you are allowed to work only part-time so no chance for a legit job. And after 6 months course, you will need to go back so, to be honest, no point to do that at all. The best option is to choose courses related to SOL and study for at least a year or 2 so you can get post-grad visa (only on that visa you can work full time). But if you are coming alone it will be hard to pay all that with only half a salary. Bear in mind that only while studying master or PhD your partner/dependant on the visa is allowed to work full time. Hope that helped.
