Thank you for posting this! I am starting graduate school for school psych in the fall. I am usually social but ever once in a while I go through bouts where i feel extremely antisocial and its nice to know that there are other options where I can get by with a little less social interaction until the season passes. I love how many school psychs are on youtube sharing their experiences!

Hi there! Congratulations on joining the field!! There are a bunch of different options that you may have with your degree. And some do account for those times when we do get into a slump. Id also share that even in a traditional setting, you can get those moments where you can just shut your door and tune out the world to do paperwork. I know I’ve done it. lol Good luck!!

Thank you for this video. I just finished my internship and working long hours. I was stressed out and felt this career was not for me. I am thinking of becoming a contractor. Every one says it is better to work for a district for the benefits. However, I do want a work and life balance since I have a baby.

Just out of curiosity, not sure if you know the answer, but how common is it for districts to hire a contractor versus employing their own school psychs?

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. I know in my area, there are still some schools/districts that still have a Covid backlog (or need help with delivering compensatory services) so contractors are in higher demand. I don’t know a fact or figure, but definitely know that the demand is still there. And can only imagine that smaller districts still have the same need as well.
