Actually, one very dumb playthrough of Hog Wild does actually show two things: You no longer have to do a perfect run past first checkpoint to get the Gem. There are relics now, at least in Crash 1 and obviously Crash 3.

You can continue or go back to title. Items: Wumpa Fruits, Crash Face(Lives), Gems Objects: Boxes: There are different types of boxes: Blank: they give none or 1 Wumpa Lined: they give up to 10 wumpas. However, if you jump on a different one then come back, the box will break regardless of how many wumpas you get. ?: Gives you random amount of wumpas. Aku Aku: he saves you from a hit by being around. However he may be lost if you took a hit or 2. He can be upgraded twice. Aku Aku is carried over to other levels. However he cant save you from pitfalls and certain hazard traps. Up: lets you jump as long they arent broken. C: CheckPoint: they save your spot where you appear after dying(this may affect certain level elements after you die and come back. For example: the amount of crates will be saved but does not carry over. However wumpas and lives will carry over. The boxes also comes in different colors: Silver: Unbreakable Red: TNT: If you spin these, they will explode. However if you jump on them, the timer starts giving you time to get away. (These may be used to solve puzzles) Gems: There are non colored and colored gems: Non colored: after getting all boxes without dying gives you a non colored gem. Colored: they are also earned after getting all boxes in certain levels. However they give you access to gem paths. They give you access to more wumpas, lives and boxes(you need to get the gem from the respective level in order to get a gem in that level) Enemies: Of course in platforming levels, there are enemies to be found. They can be jumped on or spinned. Some requires more hits. Bewarned that if you spinned enemies, it may throw them at a box or another enemy ahead. Bosses: after going a few to several levels, you may encounter Bosses. Each Boss will have there own meter and tatic. Obstacles: Of course there HAS to be OBSTACLES! These obstacles ranges from pitfalls to rolling rocks. Solving a puzzle or jumping on boxes may help avoid obstacles! Bonus Levels: These are ENTIRELY optional! They are here to give you wumpas and extra lives. They usually have a puzzle to solve or boxes to avoid. Reach crash girlfriend tawna to finish the bonus and save. You can enter one by gathering 3 Tawnas. World map: You select a level here. Just only 1 opened at a time. There are also forks in the road. Only 1 can be unlocked normally. But getting keys from cortex Bonus helps unlocks the other one. Enemy Bonus Levels: They are much harder then tawna Bonus Levels. Collecting all 3 N Brino or N Cortexes gives you access to Enemy Bonus Levels. If you finish Cortex Bonus Level, he gives you a Key.

I think Crash 2 is the best. Simply because it is the best game for pure raw platforming gameplay while also incorporating a wide move set. (The slide, crouch, crawl and high jump.) I myself have never played the original but love the remake! Edit: However, I do think Crash 3 comes very close but the vehicles and not so well hidden secret exits etc put it back for me. Plus, there are only 2 major secret exits in the game, one of which is in a motorcycle level! Which then takes you to the hardest jet ski level in the whole game “Hot Coco”! However, still love it to bits even with the minor setbacks. So glad we got Crash 4 (despite it too being the longest and most tedious game to 100%)!

I feel really stupid, but until watching this it dawned on me on how Crash is messing over Cortez. Mario's immediate reprisal and tenacity is more than enough to quickly catch Bowser off guard. Sonic is literally on Robotnick's heels and foil his plan in the act. Mega Man is out matches Wily. But Crash actually acts like a commando and destroy every and all of Cortex's equipment and supplies.
