Great review. Thanks. I've tried it today and the quality of the transcription was excellent.

Pain point number 4 for Dragon, no Portuguese. Thanks for the video, Michael. I'm going to check out ProseWrite.

Thanks for this! I am a Mac user, and I have always hated dragon. Can’t stand that dinosaur tech so glad there is better and more updated things hitting the market! I’m trying to now get into dictation now that the tools and tech are so much better for supporting dictation. Thanks!

Heavy Dragon user here. This is very interesting. I use editGPT to add punctuation and fix typos on all my audio files, which involves a bit of copy/pasting, but it isn't too terrible, honestly. Right now, I use Dragon's auto-transcribe feature to actively search and transcribe files I drop out on a shared drive throughout the day (or my recorder as soon as I plug it in). It would be cool if ProseWrite had an auto-transcribe feature in the future... might be hard to do since it is based on a web browser, though. And I know you mentioned they have batch uploading capabilities. Still, I will try this out. I really appreciate this, Michael. Another weapon in the dictator's arsenal LOL. Thank you.

Love your content. If you had to recommend one writing app for MS that is easy to use (good enough) and affordable, what would it be?

This sounds great to me. The subscription prices aren't out of line when you notice that the price is per year! I use dragon a lot, but I don't like it. Too many problems. Dragon ain't cheap. The startup program was expensive, and the upgrade last year cost more than $500 (780 Canadian). The basic prosewrite subscription is only nine bucks a month! What other subscription can you get for that price? Thanks, Michael. I'm definitely jumping on this train.

You've piqued my interest! Curious, do you have an outline when you dictate?

@@MrDjWatson91 none at all. I make it up and revise as I go.

I tried dictation for my current novel project earlier this year (because I found one of your earlier videos!). My issue is it feels like I need to say the story in sequence. It's hard to just let ideas fly because I don't want the output to be so difficult to clean up. When you dictate, do you already have a plan or script for that section of the story? Or is it just free form and you worry about it later? Thanks for this awesome video!
@AuthorLevelUp3 ай бұрын
I Freeform it and worry about it later, though I take my time and dictate in sequence (most times). Just takes practice. The more you do it and the more you are willing to stretch yourself even when it’s uncomfortable, the easier it gets.

This sounds amazing, but the subscription pricing is too much. It's too bad most software is going this route

Three dollars per hour of audio is ridiculous. Whisper is free and does the job with no frills. For a better app, I would pay, say, $10 a month of unlimited use. But with an hourly limit? Nope. No way.
