Prosser Family Campground has 29 campsites and sits on the west shore above Prosser Reservoir about 8 miles north of Truckee in the Sierra Nevada. A nice forest of Jeffrey pine and fir tees provide shade to most sites. Some sites have a peak of the reservoir. Group camping is also available at Prosser Ranch Group (about 1/2 mile away).
Campsites can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs (20 to 60 feet). Each site also has a table, fire ring, grate and BBQ. Campground amenities include drinking water and vault toilets. Firewood is also available for sale from the camp host. A boat ramp is also nearby (about 1/2 mile). Cell service is good.

This campground seems to be allowing minors to gather and consume alcohol on the property.underage drinking would normally be considerd breaking the law. Is there no one enforcing underage drinking at the campgrounds down there. This was negligence.

Looking at these photos I can only imagine how dangerous it would be for drunk and drugged people to be stumbling around in the dark with all of those logs sticking up out of the ground.

@@angeepanjee All the campgrounds in Santa Clara County have sheriff patrol every day and night. There is no alcohol allowed at any age. They drive by campsites routinely. If your caught you gota dump it all out on the spot.

Thanks Scooby Doo! We took the photos of Prosser Family Campground a few years back. Not much has changed and the campsite photos are all accurate. Also - the campground is generally open mid-May to mid-October (weather permitting). It is at about 5,800 feet.

Correct - they have vault toilets at Prosser Family Campground . . . similar to a porta-potty.

Hi Cathy, Prosser Campground is usually open into October (weather permitting). It was closed temporarily for the investigation, but according to the USFS website, it is now open and should be through mid/late October.
