Something about this woman touched me. For all of her hard exterior, she is hurting deeply. The tough façade is what she has to maintain in order to survive in the streets and to live day to day with the demons that torment her. I have read a lot of the comments and there is not much sympathy for her, and I think that's partially because she refuses to wallow publicly and wear the "scarlet letter" so to speak. She speaks her truth unapologetically, and with a rawness that intimidates. The intersectionality of her being a black woman also plays a role, because often times, there is less sympathy for us when we are in distress. The number of us dying in childbirth from unnecessary complications attest to this inattention to our pain. When I put on my church finery today, I definitely will be praying for Trina. I see a strong, but still unbroken Sistah. In the words of Pac. "keep ya head up"

This. I'm surprised at the lack of sympathy here in the comments. But she's not here crying or tripping over her words so people don't feel sorry for her. But it seems like she doesn't want to wear her heart on her sleeve which I'm sure her years in this life taught her is best for her not to get run down.
@CMM7264 жыл бұрын
I noticed that too. She’s actually hurting inside and you can see the pain in her eyes. She’s putting on the tough guy act as a defense mechanism. She probably truly feels powerless at times so she is trying to portray herself as in control. The reality of that life isnt very glamorous. Women are disrespected and abused for money then cast aside, and no one has any love for you. I think she’s highly intelligent, and if she wanted a better life she could have one with treatment and the right support system

Why wouldn't women get involved in that kind of lifestyle? Who do they have to look to as a positive female role model who doesn't exploit her anatomy for what she wants? Nobody is teaching women to think long term. Its like the guy who goes to college based on a sports scholarship that suffers a life altering injury and is left with nothing because he didn't think that this youth won't last forever. Women these days are the same way. Your youth and sexual attractiveness won't last you forever, especially when you live the party lifestyle or the street lifestyle. You will crash hard. Invest in your future by learning the valuable skills that will carry you when your looks and your body no longer can.

Paying a pimp is like paying for college. You pay that tuition fee for the education. If your ass is your best asset, you're doomed to a life of being objectified as a sex toy. The women's sufferage movement was about liberating women to a life where they can pursue their goals and dreams and a career, but that doesn't mean its just given to them You still have to work your ass off to get it. Being a prostitute is the lazy way out. But if sex is all you have to offer, a pimp will help you be the best you can be. Its basically a business partnership between man and woman where the man is the brains and the woman is the body. But pimping isn't all about sex, its all about money. There are pimps who taught women how to start their own business and gave them the knowledge on how to prosper.

It's funny how the more you talk to people ..the more you realize the "human" in everyone. This interview started out real aggressive and defensive as well, but calmed and deepened towards the end. It takes just a conversation to see the real in many.

Has anyone else noticed that the ones that say they had a “good childhood,” never elaborate on that “good childhood.” Even when Mark ask, “What was the happiest time of your life?” They never mention a memory from that “good childhood.” It’s like they’re running from the reality of how crappy it was....Just an observation

No one should judge anyone because we have not walked in their shoes. What I can say is viewing others as prey is a trauma response to being treated that way yourself. This attractive and wiley woman has spirit, she is succeeding in a vicious environment. I just hope she can find a more loving environment where people dont view each other as prey or predator. There is a better way. For the life of me I will never understand men who want sex divorced from love. Sex is meant to be combined as an expression of love. But maybe we beat the love out of little boys when we impose patriarchy on them. Sure some people just like sex with random strangers. OK, just don't get married then or be in an open relationship. All of these men seeing sex workers with an oblivious wife at home have such low charactor. Its no fault of the sex worker, but of the lying men.

I find this channel to be very interesting. I often read through the comments and I see a lot of judgment especially in these comment sections and most of you could not imagine this lifestyle and trauma. Many of you sit in your bed in your safe homes and pass judgment based on one 20 min interview. It is interesting and says a lot about humans and the limits of one compassion.

WoW! Amazing interview. Many, many things to learn here...if you have your ears open, like I have said in the past, not internalizing anything that is said or letting any personal opinion of "the lifestyle" trigger you to where you stop listening. Mark, it is obvious that you were so comfortable with interviewing Trina. You would ask a question, BAM! she answered. Very little hesitation with the exception of thinking of an example. And I LOVED your comment to her at the end...acknowledging "you're wise too". Thank you, Trina, for so many insights and letting us into your world for 20 minutes. My wish for you is that you can break free of the drugs that hold you or control you. You are a very beautiful woman and I hope safety for you, always. ♥
@Kako_XO4 жыл бұрын
She's very wise. If she is able to get off of drugs ( because it's obviously in control) and put all of that hustle into a business that she's interested in and invest herself she'll be so successful. You can tell. She's a beautiful woman but time waits for no one. I pray she's able to overcome those demons.
@sue-andragaraba8864 жыл бұрын
I get the feeling she's just ACTING like she has everything together and under control, you have a 'ptotector' who put a leash around your neck and eventually takes all your money but you claim you're investing in each other... I wish she could eventually open her eyes and get out of this whole mess cos she's trapped and is pretending that she's not.
