Hi Alicia. If i created an Authorized view AW1 on base table BT1, what happens if i recreate the BT1 -> BT2 - keeping the same name and schema but with a new Created date? The AW is just a 'SELECT * from BTx' (BT1 or BT2 is the same name) We cannot access the data anymore. So is the AW1 to be recreated too? The question looks silly but we have diverging opinions. Thanks.

BigQuery User role at the project level will give permissions to create datasets and tables. Can it be BigQuery Job User instead?

BigQuery Job User works! Also, the analysts can run the job in another project (which may be preferred for billing reasons), so they essentially just need to have Job User role in a project, no specifically this one.

Hi, Since Authorized view is created on base table, will it always have updated data if the underlying table have any change in data ?
@aliciawilliams55203 жыл бұрын
The view in this video is a logical view, meaning that the query that defines the view is run each time the view is queried. The query results will always represent the current data.

This is excellent demo. If you please share or redirect to terraform code for same steps

That's a great idea Vivek! While I don't have a sample available, it looks possible via the Terraform documentation and via a web search I saw a few posts folks have created on how to do it.

If a data is protected with authorized view, can it still be downloaded onto your computer? Thanks
@aliciawilliams55202 жыл бұрын
You are able to take the results of a query (including a query of an authorized view) and download according to this documentation: cloud.google.com/bigquery/docs/writing-results#downloading-saving-results-console.

@@aliciawilliams5520 What i want is to prevent users from downloading the data. I only want them to view it. How can i do this?
@aliciawilliams55202 жыл бұрын
@@jamesleleji9470 There is a specific permission needed to export a table (cloud.google.com/bigquery/docs/exporting-data#permissions_to_export_data_from_a_table) and you could test removing that to see if it has the right effect for your use case. Another option would be to share the data via Data Studio which you can set up to allow the viewer to filter and slice data according to the charts and visuals you create, while not giving them access to view the underlying data.
