Actually, Migurds don't speak. They exclusively use telepathy. Roxys parents explicitly taught themselves to speak (shown in flashbacks) to communicate with their daughter. Its like a deaf child's parents learning sign language to communicate with their child. Nobody else generally bothers.

The only people who can speak with their mouth in Migurd tribe are the village chief and Roxy's parents. The village chief is mandatory to be able to communicate with the other demon tribes. Roxy parents had to learn it just to communicate with Roxy. Aaaaaaand that's why the only ones dealing with Ruijerd were the village chief and Rowan (Roxy's father).

Roxy's story is about overcoming adversity. Roxy is disabled. She carries a burden constantly, she feels inferior. She might not be disabled to the world but she is in her village since she can't communicate with them. Meeting Rudeus incidentally didn't help with her confidence but ended up re-igniting her desire for learning and honing her skills once more. Her story doesn't end here of course, she is a character that is very deep, such as most of the cast is. Mushoku Tensei is a Wonderful series.

Right! It's worse than a foreign language situation. At least languages can be learned, but in Roxy's case, it's not something she can ever gain because it really is a disability in that community.

Yeah.. the writing is excellent. If one can deal with the ecchi bits, this is pretty much the best isekai story ever. Take this from someone who has read the light novels. There's so much more to look forward to.

@@netnoob77 Yeah, I've read the LNs, currently finishing Vol 25, soon to start the last one. And since Mushoku was released as a Web Novel in 2012 and as a Light Novel in 2014 I would say many modern Isekai shows took reference or were inspired by it. The author is just a genius.

As I understand it, only a handful of people in the village have learned to speak. Roxys parent learned to speak on order to teach Roxy. And the village elders use it to deal with outsiders.

I think it's only Roxy's parents and the village Elder. This is why Roxy's Father was sent to interact with Ruijird in the first place. Before Roxy was born even her parents didn't know how to talk, thinking of this is kind of insane.

Roxy father and mother they know that their daughter can't do telepathy because of that they have to learn language so they can teach it to Roxy. So its not like they already can speak but they learn it because roxy can communicate with them using telepathy

Only the head migurd and Roxy's parent can speak in the village so they can communicate with outsiders and visitors. Others see no need to learn it. Roxy's parent had to learn it so they can speak with Roxy.

I know what it feels like when you can't communicate and people alienate you. Cause I'm in a same situation. I know the common language of people here but don't know or understand the language of my community. Just because of this I can't even have friends in my community. And so I completely stopped going on community gatherings. It just feels awkward. They say something and my response would just be a silent smile.

I think roxy represents what anxiety feels like. "are they talking behind my back" "what do they think of me" "are they making fun of me cuz i cant use telepathy". That constant feeling of thinking if people think less of you
