Just finished mounting my textured flares. Thanks for your advice on the fitment, Kelly. RDJ 'extends' further down than OEM, so the edge trim/gasket...based on vid fits perfectly. One cautionary piece- Go very slow on your 'wonder wheel', 3M, etc. on the very thickly layered paint...even if on metal. It's a ton of clear coat that I burned through, even on low rpms. Just take your time & go VERY SLOW. This has nothing to do with the product- simply adhesive cleanup. This is a great product I used on my '21 OR, and would recommend it for sure! Great look & functional!

The rdj site seems really odd. They were out of everything and said they can reserve some. So they sent me a e invoice. Then the invoice had my shadow man name on it and not my actual name.

@@shanewilson2270 that is weird. Give them a call. They seemed helpful when ordering mine.

Another awesome DIY video. Flares look great and hopefully will provide desired results long term. Keep an eye out for paint rubbing even with the rubber gasket installed. One other KZbinr had this happen on his Tacoma with aftermarket flares. I’d really be interested in a truck update. How many miles, how ofter you have the oil changed, any mechanical issues and if you have had to deal with the dealership for any warranty issues. Especially with a modified truck if they gave you the run around if you needed something looked at. Maybe in a future DIY video you can add this in?

Thank you and I’ll definitely keep an eye out. I kinda thought that may happen when dust gets on their and rubs.

No the adhesive is to the fender. It is just a rubber gasket to the body. The screws under the fender hold it nice and tight though.

@@AdventureBuilt I just bought a used 2018 tundra and was going to try these flares until I read that you had taken them off. I was hoping you could tell me why. I plan on painting mine super white to match, would that factor into leaving yours on if they had been painted? Thank you very much.
@AdventureBuilt2 жыл бұрын
@@jboeckel so I ended taking them off purely for looks. They protect well, I just didn’t like the way they made my tires looks smaller in pics and video. If you like the way they look, go for it. They are really good to protect your paint. Trevor is still running his and loves them. Also having them be body color will most likely make them blend better and not stand out so much. Hope this helps.
