What a beautiful story for such a wonderful person who really loved those elephants. It’s a lesson for many of us when dealing with animals.

People say we should "give this man a medal" or "make a movie out of this". But honestly, one way to respect this person's wishes/ Lawrence Anthony's wishes is to do what he did to the rest of our world. Care, give back and help the people and animals around us. Prevent harm from happening, and start to heal this world that have us so divided. Treat each other and animals how you would want to be treated.

They had good reason to fear humans - hunting plentiful game is one thing, but hunting big game going extinct for trophy is another. Will hunters start killing adults once they finish killing off the elephants, tigers, and bears? Big game hunting decimated the great Buffalo [bison] 🦬 - we humans refuse to learn from history, and we hate change - like the song says everything must change. . .

We underestimate the ability of animals to understand and relate to us. Communication is not about language or words, it’s a feeling that emanates from us. Someone can tell you they love you but you can feel it when they hug you whether they really do or not. Elephants are highly intelligent and intuitive. It takes the right person to appreciate that so that they can communicate without words. God bless a special man. We need more like him and all areas of life.

@Taygon452 жыл бұрын
Humans and elephants are far from the only intelligent animal. Hyenas have social structures where they help one another, Humpbacks protect creatures from threats for no benefit to themselves, Ravens can make tools and for bonds with wolves that they lead to dead animals so they can be protected by the wolves while the ravens eat what they left behind.

@@SilentHotdog28 I would argue that Orcas are smarter cause not only come up with games that have nothing to do with survival(or self-destructive bullying of their own kind like Dolphins), but despite easily being able to kill us like Great White's, they are all told by their parents and grandparents to avoid attacking humans at all costs just because they know humans have weapons and don't want a bad reputation. In other words, among the few species that become grandparents without giving birth to more kids, grandma killer whales understand the concept of good Public Relations. That's pretty advanced. (That being said, both orcas and dolphins are unhinged sadists. Manta rays are the go to sea animal when it comes to being close to our intelligence and not using it for sadism.)
