I'm happy that we started doing something to protect the future of fishing industry of Jamaica. One of the most important thing we can do is to educate fishermen about the do's and don't of fishing. I am from East Portland and we need something like this up here else!!!..

Great video. Wonderful to see the younger generation of scientists taking the baton of conservation forward. The sanctuary is now a reality. But now the struggles begins to ensure enforcement and compliance indefinitely into the future. We next need protection of some key areas to the east of the Cays which will cause eggs and larvae to replenish areas down-current to the west.

This is great for the industry...because I was visiting JA went fishing in the harbor and it seems as if there was no fish. I caught some small fish and was wondering where is the fishes. My concern doh is if I'm out using one fishing line catching 1 fish every hour is this effecting the fishing industry?

Not taking pregnant females is old biblical wisdom from thousands of years ago. In the Torah the Bible advised that if you see a bird and young chicks - if you are hungry - then take the chicks but leave the mother.

While we at it preserving the fishes which is a good idea btw, can we start preserving the lives of people too? Start by stop killing each other.

This is good to see but why does Jamaica allow spear fishing and pot fishing. They are killing all the fish.. Spear fishing should only be for lion fish. Most of Jamaicas reefs are covered in algae as all the parrot fish are being killed. They need to pass a law to make it illegal to catch parrot fish.
