Have you ever wanted to design your own protein but didn't know where to start? We’ve launched a new platform that puts powerful machine learning tools behind a user-friendly web interface, making protein design accessible to anyone.
Try it for free: huggingface.co...
PROTEIN_GENERATOR simplifies the process of creating new protein structures. You can quickly make and manipulate protein models without leaving your browser. Whether you are a student, researcher, or professional, we hope this tool will empower you to explore the frontiers of protein science.
Machine learning is at the heart of this. The algorithms that power PROTEIN_GENERATOR were trained on protein structures and sequences from nature. From this enormous dataset, the software has learned how to create new molecules that have never existed before. This breakthrough sets the stage for new discoveries in protein science, including the creation of new medicines that are not only more effective at treating diseases like cancer, but also potentially much cheaper to produce.
But it's not just for scientists. Even if you aren't a protein expert, you can still use this tool. Try typing out your name as an amino acid sequence and seeing what the computer does with that. (For biochemical reasons, you’ll have to leave out the letters B, J, O, U, X, and Z.) We hope this interactive tool inspires the next generation of students and life-long learners.
This project was led by Sidney Lisanza and Jake Gershon, both graduate students in the Baker Lab. We thank Simon Dürr and the Hugging Face team for their support in the form of a community GPU grant. Making protein design freely accessible is empowering, and we're excited to see what new ideas come from this.
We hope you enjoy using PROTEIN_GENERATOR as much as we do.
