Man Federer’s movement looks like liquid. Just so aesthetically pleasing
@geepeeone
@geepeeone 5 жыл бұрын
Because his movement is in line with his momentum, his body is not contorted against his inertia. Djokovic is the opposite. Human gumby. It works for both. I've seen both players play up close. Djokovic's shots are harder to anticipate because he has so much leeway in how he can contort his body on command.

great! - I find most stunning he vicious velocity with which he decapitates (closest word in my fundus) his BH slices. these things land and bury themselves like mulls into the ground, like Graf´s but with even more !American twist", i.e. outward spin so that all his prey can do is (on his lucky day) see the death stalker coming early enough to somehow shovel it up. NASTY. imagine a ball popping whilst landing: that effect. Maybe THIS ONE he omits st. in order to make it a game and not an embarassment. Nothing to do with a decent flat slice; nothing to be done w/these "reversed Rafa-FHs" hit harder than any drive or topspin. Sadism.

Every time I watch these kinds of practice videos I feel I can get on the court and emulate these professionals - only to realize how much training and practice it requires. And then some more. Just mesmerizing to watch these.

«Oh my gaaad...» That's the most accurate representation of what it fees like to watch Federer play for the first time (especially). Did the same to me in 2012 while I had marvelled at his graceful power, pristine touch, natural shot making abilities, and gliding footwork for more than five years on TV. This man truly is one of the best sportsmen ever, arguably the best. Even more impressive closing in on his 40's: unbelievable!

I have been using double backhand in my junior years but have never figured it out. It was so bad I always try to hide it by using my forehand. After a 10 year hiatus I ditched the double backhand for good and leant the single backhand by emulating federer. My backhand is now my favourite shot it's so much better than my forehand that I look forward to hitting backhands more than forehands. Imagine the confidence.
