The Just Stop Oil protesters caused mayhem in Knightsbridge in the West End, London, this morning as they created a blockade.

Speaking as a retired Police Officer, I would have arrested them for obstruction of the highway. Now, as a member of the public, I'd have some zip ties in my car and use them to tie them to a nearby piece of street furniture after I'd moved them out of the way. From what nI have read about them that is something they do not do for the same basics reasons as anyone else. It is also a clear, specific and serious legal offence to do that. This is the first video I have seen involving an emergency vehicle. If they really are blocking it why hasn't the video maker concentrated on that? It would be a really strong argument against them. The movement clearly has a good understanding of the highway laws and certainly understand they would alienate supporters and the general public if they actively blocked emergency vehicles, so I am sceptical about that detail of the video.

Happened to me my mother had a fall, she phoned an ambulance but there was a huge wait so she called me to ask if I could take her to hosptial instead, they couldn't send anyone out. What I find ironic is that the doctors in the wonderful st George's hospital tooting said that if he had to collapse anywhere in the country then London was a better option because the hospitals in Cornwall don't have the same resources my thought after hearing that was oh he'd get to the hospital faster for sure but would have died sooner why is the facilities in the more rural towns and cities less than it's like London is hogging all the bloody money and not distributing it fairly. I remember being a medic i was driving very quickly when I found several people laying down on the highway. Of course i wanted to get as close as i could so i planned on stop about 25-30 feet from them but as i approached in an 80,000 pound truck they all jumped up and moved off the road. I checked each one and so no issues and then later told they were all air lifted to nearby U of F teaching hospital.

The highway code was recently adapted so that road users have to give way to other more vulnerable road users. As annoying as these protestors are, if a driver wilfully drove in to and killed them, they'd go to prison for causing death by dangerous driving, which carries up to a life sentence as of June 28th. The protestors are committing a crime too, but the police for whatever reason are leaving them.

As we sat & talked, she adjusted her glasses with plastic frames to look at her phone...which is also produced with fossil fuels. If I had my daughter in the car and needed to get to hospital I would be furious and can't imagine just sitting there okay with it. I would normally never want to harm someone. There are not really many circumstances where I could justify it. I have even had people try to kill me, and I had ever legal right to defend myself. But, instead I refrained. But, if an ambulance was blocked in traffic, and someone I really cared about died, as a result, I would track those people down, and figure out every legal way to destroy and ruin their lives. I may even find myself considering going quite a bit further. I would not know until it would happen. But this makes me wonder what a human being could be capable of. These things complete lack of sympathy and empathy for any other human being. No consideration for consequences to other people’s lives. I feel like if someone I loved died as a result I might find myself going at least temporarily insane.
