What would happen if you used a square conductor in the center hole of the donut magnet? Would it still rotate around the square conductor, or get caught on one of the corners of the conductor?

Awesome! I'm not sure what circuit your using to modulate the arc, however I've found with mine that using a 555 timer and tuning the frequency really high will get rid of the fluttering, however with that said, it opens up a lot of heating problems with the mosfets :P . My circuit I made for one is on my channel in my newest video a little ways in. But yeah, idk if you've tried that already but if you haven't then you should xD ( also it makes the plasma arc a lot cooler looking in my opinion :D )

This video doesn't have sound any more. It seems fine on your other videos. I assume someone did a copyright complaint or something. On your instructables page, this video says "Video Unavailable - Watch on KZbin". That happens on copyright complains, because they want to stick their advertising to make money on it, and can't do it when embedded.

it looks like the section of a ying yang symbol, also you ever going to put music through it?

This is most likely irrelevant but since I see frequencies in the comments. That zvs driver you got for induction. I have the same one and I was wondering if you knew the frequency output. It'll help me with my projects. Thank you

Greetings and salutations, could you do another 1000 fps of your vortex arc speaker doing, sine, square, and saw tooth waves at different frequencies? To see what would not break the plasma arc. Cheers and great work! ES
@ProtoG428 жыл бұрын
+EmancipatedSquirrel Nothing really changes, the output is still pulsed DC with a 40kHz carrier frequency. The 40kHz is always present, you just can't hear frequencies that high.

Would more voltage and/or a higher frequency reduce the fluttering?

Great job! I was wondering that could ark discharge like Jacob's ladder do the speaker thing?
@ProtoG428 жыл бұрын
+Ruji Yu Thank you! Yes, this would also work on a Jacob's ladder

Still would like to see a Horn attached to the magnet... BOSE does something similar with verible thickness plastic and Dynamic speakers..even blue man group, uses Plastic tubing, and then a horn to expand the volume..
@ProtoG428 жыл бұрын
+Ed ash I don't use this as the speaker with the vortex because of the inherent fluttering sound associated with the arc rotating. It's more of a demonstration. Did you watch the other videos of the regular setup with two electrodes? It's really loud and I feel a horn would take away from the aesthetic I'm going for. I like the copper and persian walnut and I like being able to play with the arc when I show people. I posted full instructions so you can make one for yourself here: www.instructables.com/id/Plasma-Arc-Vortex-Speaker/

What if you put a magnetron inside the magnet?

How far do your arcs go? I might have a ceramic magnet that'll do the job for ya. I got quite a variety

+Carl Alm no offense taken. I'll probably do a few more videos on the speaker. I'm about to upload a Jacob's Ladder version and I want to experiment with the addition of different noble gases.

The vortex will never sounds as good as the regular electrode setup. The spinning arc causes a fluttering sound that can't be removed.
