Regarding the blue rocks in the dungeons that can be destroyed by flame... I believe these are supposed to be like ice blocks? There was a map in the manual of the NES game. IIRC it showed the general locations of the bosses in each area, also the general locations of the doors that led from one area to the next, and possibly explained the powers you'd need to travel between them, but I'm not sure about that last one. It might have just been that you'd see a doorway high up and figure "I probably need hover to get there", or "This goes from area 1 to 4, so I probably need something in Area 3 to get there".

The end of this stage is one of the few place where the USA level design was fixed over the Japanese release. The ladder was made longer in the USA version, though infinite lives and the use the reset button to warp, items and all to the start of the game, (something not seen till Symphony of the Night with its warp rooms) which fixed many soft locks in the game.

Hey, Jon just want to say I really appreciate you doing some solo rerecorded LP'ing again, I'm really glad you found your bliss as a streamer and bring happiness to so many that way but unless it D&D or another tabletop game streaming has never been my thing. Seeing you come back for a bit has been great for me as some of my earliest youtube memories is watching you rage at Mario ROM hack. I've continued to enjoy you on runawayguys but your solo LPing again just brought back a wave of nostalgia and fond memories to me so thanks for that. The hilarious thing about Ribiroll is that it’s the tank boss that can easily shrug off Sophias ultimate weapon. The other tank bosses lose over half their Health if not all to it but Ribiroll barely loses any of his HP from it.

Sub-weapons aside, Striker has the highest DPS of the gun weapons, provided you're right next to the target. While I don't have any internal values to say whether these numbers are what the game uses, Striker does 20 damage, compared to say Wave's 5 damage per bullet for 15 damage if you hit at the nodes of the waves. Reflect can do 25 damage if you perform a "perfect reflect" (10 damage otherwise), but that can't be done as consistently, having to rely on enemy projectiles instead of your own. The strongest raw damage you can use consistently is Diffusion, with its closest range also dealing 25 damage; its low rate of fire hinders it, however, although many enemies seem to be weak to it. I'm pretty sure I've also seen those as a frowning face. Reminds me of Metroid Fusion, where the water area in Sector 4 has these canisters in the near background that also look like faces (to me, anyway). Sad to say, Maximum Shot is the least useful of Sophia's main weapons. It's only good for a few niche situations, but otherwise, you're better off using something else; one such niche situation is destroying the debris blocking the drain on the right side sooner. Something too low? Homing Missile or Thunder Breaker. Want to do more damage? Spam shots instead of charging; most enemies at this point die in one hit anyway. Or just use Spark Tackle for both I got a friend to play this game recently, and I specifically told him to keep rumble on for this area specifically. And I appreciate all the boats that keep passing by with each wave. I used to think Ribbiroll was difficult, because I was run away from it when it started hopping. But when I figured to just stand still in a place it hops over, it became much easier, as shown.

The moment you entered the frowny face block room I thought "Hey look the blocks are upset, kinda like in Mario. Am I the only one who sees faces in stuff like this?" I am definitely not from Jons reaction. All the controller vibration talk reminded me of one of my worst experiences with controller vibration. I was playing Journey (PS4) my vibration settings for the controller were on standard, everything was fine at first but at a later point of the game the controller was shaking so violently that my hands started hurting and it wouldn't stop vibrating for minutes. When I put my controller down on to my table it fell off the table because it was vibrating so hard. I turned the vibrations off after that but the experience kind ruined my mood. That really diminished my enjoyment of Journey which is a shame since it is quite an experience and I loved it except for the vibrations.
