Have you considered using gearbox stepper motors on Z axes? There are Nema17 with 5:1 reduction

Thank you for following. We are using 4:1 in gearing on the Z axis now, we considered 5:1 but 4:1 gives a better resolution ratio of 0.025 rather than 0.020 as 0.025 are more suitable for most mechanical parts. I.E you can easily get layers adding up in 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1mm increments

Instead of homing to max why not do a three point bed probe with the IR probe? I do that on mine with the BL touch. I guess technically you could have your bed so skewed that it might bottom out one of the Z axis first but in two years of doing mine with the 3 point probe I have never had my bed be that out of whack.

Hi Chris, thank you for commenting. I will do a G32 3 point bed tramming/leveling with the probe. Just to be sure I want a rought leveling high befor homing low with the probe so that any big difference can be evend out. I might skip this step later when all is working great and just run the bed to the bottom on the end of a print. Working on the machine the bed tends to get very skewed and the probe might not reach all points
