I would never have thought this was your first attempt with all the stone work. It is brilliant. The pots and trees are beautiful. I love the gravel as well. Keep doing all the things that make you feel good while you can. I have always been a nomadic person and done everything on my own and I am finding getting older, it is not that easy. Love the channel and your work! The trees look beautiful in the pots, and I may be seeing wrongly, but I believe you may have planted your Citrus trees too deeply. They should have just the crown of the roots barely exposed. Hope they give many fruits!

Great job guys , one thing I would do is trim the citrus , long branches cannot support more than 2or 3 big lemons yours will want to make 20 on those long ones , the temptation is to have this big instant bush , the first storm branches will snap and like our apricot completely snapped in half ruined sacrifice the fruit in 1st year for good structure ,protect the investment , gently put fingers on branch push down if it bends 10 cm it needs shortening it will put on a flush which can be thinned by rubing off inward facing shoots , the idea is open vase , keep an eye on drainage I use smashed terracotta for 5 cm , a circle of shade cloth to stop fine dirt dropping and blocking the hole ,drill more holes often they drown with clay blocking the one little hole , ants like the warm pots and have a symbiotic relationship with scale the ants move baby scale like a nursery nurturing them and the reward is sugars secreted by the scale a telltale sign is the ant activity or black soot look on the trunk and 2nd year wood , if this happens take 1 litre of water and 1/2 cup of cooking oil blend and spray on stems under leaves the mature scale is dark brown the oil only sprayed with 2 euro atomiser on overcast days as the leaves burn if hot early spring or late autumn in mornings is best hope this helps sorry long winded it’s not as easy a friend did the ceramic lime , lemon & olive trip and same heat as you and 3 years 9 of 10 dead she looked after them ie food water cheers ❤

If you don’t plan on moving the pots. Break some of the bottom out then put your sticks and soil in. Then it won’t dry out as much also less watering. The roots will not be root bound again. I also live in the same climate hot and wet in California. Looks ver nice.

What an improvement. One comment about the large pots. Royal blue is a great color in the garden, warm and inviting. The color you have chosen seems to get lost against the wall of the house. Planting trees in the pots or whenever you plant trees, don't mulch too high up the trunk as it chokes the trees growth. Plus keep the trees trimmed as strong winds can take what seems to be a heavy based tree and topple it over. Forget about washing down the slabs as a heavy rain will do that for you, all you have to do is get your broom and sweep as it rains ~ saves water. 😁 Can't wait to see what's next. BTW: You didn't show the patio area, what do you have in mind for that area? Take care, be well ~ All our best to you, Alice and the pups🐾

Haha yeah washing down the slabs seemed a little odd as I'm sure the rain would have got rid of it but i wanted to see how it looked and show you kind people who tune in to my waffling every week :) The patio is just to fill the space really, we plan on adding a coupe of ornaments, we hope! Looks fantastic! You’ve done a great job! Just watch that you haven’t buried those trees too deep. The soil shouldn’t go over the top of the root ball. Mulch should not be touching the trunk. If they start to not look happy they may get water logged as need stone / gravel at the bottom of the pot. You both should be really proud of what you’ve done. 🎉.
