Proverbs 31: Ancient Wisdom and Modern Understandings

Proverbs 31 can be a polarizing chapter. There are lots of women's Bible studies focused on this chapter and the woman described in it. In this video we're going to explore the most likely original context for Proverbs 31. We'll explore it's place in the book of Proverbs, the book of Proverbs within it's wider genre context in the Ancient Near East, and how wisdom literature were originally used. We'll explore the somewhat surprising martial and heroic themes and the possible connections with Lady Wisdom, Lady Folly, and the Promiscuous Woman found elsewhere in the book. Let's dig in.
