Excellent narration. By the way a here is a quick note. Philadelphia also is known for its many row houses.

I appreciate the kind words! I'd known about row houses being a feature of Baltimore, but I didn't realize that about Philadelphia. Some day, I hope to visit there, and see some of the historic sites. My brother went to the University of Pennsylvania in the 1960's, and I remember him telling me about having to be careful when bicycling across the streetcar tracks. I thought it was neat that Philadelphia kept using streetcars when so many other cities decided to just use buses.

Enjoyed your video and narration. Did you go to the snack bar or dining car? Now the food has changed. May be helpful to have an atlas along. I hope to buy a 15 day (the cheapest) rail pass someday. Atlanta is a definite destination!

Yes I got snacks, but that was all. I had to travel so light that I didn't have an atlas, but that would have been helpful also. You will enjoy the rest of the scenery along the line through Atlanta. I've only been as far west as Austell on the tracks that serve the Crescent. The train I was on was an excursion and it headed from Austell northwest to Rome and Chattanooga.

How do you get your checked luggage when you have to transfer trains? Does Amtrak just transfer all passenger luggage during your layover?
@kjfitzgerald5935 жыл бұрын
I'm not certain, as I travel light, and I kept everthing with me at my seat or in a rack above. Check Amtrak's website for sure. Also, I think that some of their small stations have no facility for loading or unloading anything from the baggage car, so be sure the station you wish to use has the facilities that you need.

I'm Gald That Were Were able to take to Atlanta,GA From Providence R.I . Do You Remember What Train Number Your Rode on From Providence R.I to New York City . I know it is a Northeast Regional Train . But Like a Example It Would Be This : Northeast Regional Train 129 . I'm very thankful I was able to ride that train too. It was a great ride, and the Amtrak people were all nice to me. That was Train Number 99. I was able to buy my ticket online and print it out, and it had all the train numbers on the ticket for the two northbound trains and the two southbound trains that I used for the round trip. It had a special code printed on it that the conductor could scan with an electronic device so their system knew I was on the train. It was really cool! Thanks for the kind words, Jake G!

kjfitzgerald593 Do You Live in Atlanta,GA ?
@kjfitzgerald5939 жыл бұрын
Jake G I am just southeast of the ATL airport, and if I am outside, I can hear train engineers blow the horn for crossings in Forest Park, Lake City and Morrow, GA. on the former Central of Georgia line, now part of Norfolk Southern. That line goes through the campus where I work. I even got a video one day when I had to wait for a train before visiting our dorm complex to work on something. This segment of the line still has jointed rail, so it has that "classic sound!" Take a look if you would like. Thanks! kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHOcd2xugNGFd5o

kjfitzgerald593 Could I meet You One Day ?
@kjfitzgerald5939 жыл бұрын
Jake G I'm honored that you would ask. That might be possible, but not soon. I stay soooooo busy! It drives me crazy but I sure don't get bored! It would be fun to visit the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth once more with someone such as yourself who is a much more advanced railfan than I am I could tell that by watching just a few of your videos! If you are a younger railfan, it would be awesome if one of your parents were along for such a visit, as I am very careful when meeting someone in person whom I've met online first. Thankfully, meetings like that have gone well in the past. I would say that I am a 3rd class railfan, in that I watch, record, and sometimes ride trains, but I don't always understand what is going on! :-) ! I am thankful to have grown up with two busy railroads nearby, and I have a lot of respect for those who keep them going safely, day after day. I just subscribed, and I'll leave a message on your channel's discussion page. Here is one more video from my channel of which I feel very thankful to have taken. Caution, the horn is very loud since I was behind the locomotive in a caboose on the Hartwell Railroad! This was recorded just after the meeting for the start of the Bicycle Ride Across Georgia, so that's probably why some folks on bicycles tried to race the train. Ha Ha Ha! Thanks for watching! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWSVe4WtmNZjgsU
