Horizon Health Services continues to position itself at the forefront of addiction and mental health treatment in Western New York, always innovating ways to better serve their community.
"I would say that one of the more recently added programming is a intensified outpatient program. We kind of created our own version internally of how we wanted that to look. Three groups a week the provider um meets with the patient weekly as well we have a peer wrapped up in that service as well we do them virtually or in person whatever the patient prefers we want to be able to accommodate everyone," said Gulsum Silluzio of Horizon Health Services.
Horizon's approach is made possible through their strong partnership with the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports or OASAS.
"There's this big push for harm reduction and integration and I see us moving in the direction of being much more integrated behavioral health organizations, especially with Dr. Cunningham at the lead here kind of pushing us in that direction and having worked in the community I think she gets it," said Silluzio.
This collaborative effort is helping to break down the barriers that often prevent people from accessing the care they need.
"There's a lot of barriers to treatment. I think family members sometimes can be a barrier, belief systems can be a barrier, transportation, like we talked about, not knowing that the resources exist, got to make a phone call you got to talk to somebody just to figure
out what the options are."
Horizon is passionate and committed to improving lives in communities.
"These are people that are often trying to find you know something a little bit better, something a little different, something a little healthier right and all people should be treated well and have the opportunity to be healthy and live a well life."
