I used to do this when my kids were babies. A convenient smart idea, for sure. The bug mesh for the strollers, work great too - not for sun so much. I used to wet the sheet with cold water , ring it out , then cover. It makes it cooler - if it's windy, it makes a great air conditioner. Another great idea for the sitting up stage - the plastic pee pee mattress cover makes a great splash pad or instant kiddie pool. Place on ground ,elastic up, and put 4 water bottles in each corner, or anything waterproof and handy ,add a little water and some toys. Easy, quick, and convenient if you're at a BBQ or park ,and it's hot. Mommy/Daddy and baby =happy.

I had to make a big square sheet for kids plapens back in the 70s. They only had the plastic covering the thin foam. So I sewed sheets to cover the plastic and then used an extra sheet to cover the top like this.

Thats a great one, we have a 2 months old baby boy, our first. Definitely going to apply that.....❤

And when the baby gets to big for the play pen, you can cut one side of the mesh. BAM! You got a reading nook/private spot to play. Just make sure to remember the top again lol

I prefer the Human touch of walking with your Baby in hand or with the Baby's head on the shoulder. This video got me thinking "what if 'a' Mother walks away to do something or answer the phone and forgets the Baby out in the hot sun?"

That would be something YOU do. Most good mothers don't forget they have kids 😂😂. Like I never forget my son in the car he the only one I got. Stop comparing people.

Sometimes mum's need a break and not have their child attached to them at all times! No ones going off for an hour long phone call and forgetting their kid.

I had the brownest legs as a baby… my mother laid me under a tree with my legs in the sun because back then they knew how important sunlight was for everyone.

Not in hot, humid weather!! I don't think this is a good idea if it's too hot.

I used to use the sheets that came with my pack and play when I bought it but I would put my girls when they were babies in the shade not let them be out in the heat very long. Are babies are so precious❤❤❤

If you can add a small fan up top, (on one of the side and out of babys reach) so they dont get to hot! X

Put a thermometer there.. it's actually acting like a green house and could potentially harm the baby..

Adorable baby❤The cover Is a good ideal, if you're in Seattle Washington, where the temp is 55-60 degrees. If not, monitor, to make sure, air is circulating.

Almost like microwaving a baby without any air circulation but ok

At the very least, get a mini fan to put in the corner & cool the baby. It’s still going to be warm in there, because it filters the light, but not all of the heat. Also, don’t forget to give the little one some cold juice in a sippy cup, as babies have to stay hydrated, too. 🥺

just to be safe you should also test out the temp, to make sure it doesn't make it hotter. but great idea

Turn him sideways when you put him in the playpen to prevent him from looking into the sun, which could cause eye damage.
