This creates a “hot box” for the baby make sure you have a little fan or adequate air circulation to prevent the hot air from rising the baby’s temperature too high. I know the crib is mesh, but that doesn’t stop the hot air from heating the crib up. Same thing goes for blankets over strollers for shade on hot days, you need proper ventilation. Stay safe 👍🏻

I used to do this when my kids were babies. A convenient smart idea, for sure. The bug mesh for the strollers, work great too - not for sun so much. I used to wet the sheet with cold water , ring it out , then cover. It makes it cooler - if it's windy, it makes a great air conditioner. Another great idea for the sitting up stage - the plastic pee pee mattress cover makes a great splash pad or instant kiddie pool. Place on ground ,elastic up, and put 4 water bottles in each corner, or anything waterproof and handy ,add a little water and some toys. Easy, quick, and convenient if you're at a BBQ or park ,and it's hot. Mommy/Daddy and baby =happy.

That’s true 😅 I would have at least had my baby in the shade with the fan blowing…. But mostly, I wouldn’t even have my son outside right now because it’s so hot and humid here! Maybe in the spring when it’s nice cool weather or in the late fall… definitely not summer! Hell.. even those seasons are hot 😂 at least it will keep the mosquitoes off and flys!

We did this in the shade when my kiddo was little, she napped for about an hour. I used a portable fan to insure she was cool enough and checked on her often. Babies need outside just like we do. This is a good way to keep them safe when our arms need a break for a few minutes-an hour.

That playpen is going to get so hot, so quick! You'd think there's a lot of airflow, there isn't. We tried this years and years ago with our oldest, bad idea. We live in the Midwest, pretty average temps. It was too hot in there, with pretty much no airflow. Think of a car that is parked and has no ac running, but the windows are all 4 cracked about 3in. Looks like it could work, is actually a really bad idea.

At the very least, get a mini fan to put in the corner & cool the baby. It’s still going to be warm in there, because it filters the light, but not all of the heat. Also, don’t forget to give the little one some cold juice in a sippy cup, as babies have to stay hydrated, too. 🥺
