To be fair Ethan spends this entire clip completely lying about what Aubrey said (like saying he is saying they hate people with dwarfism which he never says) while complaining that Aubrey is lying and misrepresenting things. It’s fine for him to respond if he feels he is being misrepresented but outright lying about what Aubrey is claiming is just as bad as the behaviour he is criticising. He should just respond to his actual points, not what Ethan imagines his points are.

Seems like Ethan and the crew misunderstood Aubrey’s video? Pretty clear to me that Aubrey’s point was he expected a civil educational conversation with the team backing him up but Jimmy was just cracking jokes about him and the team were not backing him up, making Aubrey not feel supported. I don’t think he is saying he was surprised he was talking to Jimmy (he even says he was on there to talk to Jimmy) but that he was surprised to be brought out of the Zoom waiting room without warning. Showing their email correspondence (which doesn’t say that there will be jokes about Aubrey having dwarfism in the show which Ethan seems to say) doesn’t refute either point as far as I can tell? I think you could argue Aubrey’s not as clear as he should have been about the situation but I don’t see any actual lies here based on the evidence presented. I will go watch the original ep again though to see if the team really do back him in. It’s weird they didn’t used any clips of the original show, just clips of Aubrey saying how greater the community was, who he has never said were bad. I also think it’s gross to have a go at a marginalised people being publicly grateful to people with more institutional power than them whilst internally feeling shit about the experience, especially in media. Remember how people with dwarfism were in freak shows? Ethan claims literally every single criticism of him is clout chasing, never takes any responsibility or even displays even the slightest empathy. I think Olivia is the only one who responds in an actual human and empathetic way in this and it sucks she was so hurt.

Ok having watched it (at double speed) and I can see why Ethan didn’t share any of it. They spring Aubrey on Jimmy and Ethan’s dad, making them both extremely defensive and not open to the conversation. I would assume from the email in the video they would have told Jimmy they were going to have Aubrey on and it is unclear if it was also a surprise for Aubrey they were doing it like this. If it was meant a genuine way not ad a gimmick I don’t know why they sprung Aubrey on Jimmy like that. Both are clearly uncomfortable at multiple points. Also in the podcast they are literally laughing as they start the video, not really demonstrating they think it’s such a serious issue like they claim here. Also in their email to Aubrey they said they would be backing him up (and say they were in this video) but in the video they shared it’s literally just Aubrey debating them both the whole time with the team injecting once to sort of back him up, but barely, even when he starts making jokes about Aubrey they don’t say anything? Idk I can definitely see why he would feel uncomfortable about it.

I encourage you to never speak on marginalized communities, I don't think you're intentionally bigoted but it seems like you're performative in your activism and don't know any rhetoric to actually dissect media. I'll explain what you did wrong. And I do expect you to apologize for misconstruing what happened in the podcast and infantalizing disabled people. Firstly, Aubrey did lie and use inflammatory language to describe a situation that didn't happen. I can let you know what that is if you want. But in term of the video you "rewatched". You claimed the crew sprung him in without the comedian and his dad knowing, this is true and the only I will agree on. Then you claimed the crew didn't back him up enough. The actual segment was 20 minutes long was was mostly aubrey talking, so obviously they won't back him up a lot numerically. Moreover, they shouldn't back him up often BECAUSE aubrey is the professional here. He is perfectly equiped to handle himself and I thought he performed amazingly. He is way more knowledgeable then the crew, the crew shouldn't be interjecting because they're not the experts. You're infantalizing disabled people and expecting the abled body people to do all the heavy lifting when he is MORE equiped to deal with this. The only times it would be appropriate for the crew to interject would be as a moderator and there was really only one time where that was appropriate which was the time they did interject. Because jimmy kept on using his personality disorder to pivot and the crew called him out on that. The crew also interjected again at the end to close the conversation and called put jimmy for being reductive and again for him saying he'll stop using little people jokes when he did in the very segment

But you have to acknowledge that jimmy lee was obviously outwardly sexually inappropriate in his jokes online at the time you were bringing him on to the podcast. As you said, you obviously did not commit the harassment yourself nor should anyone imply that, but you did platform a racist, sexist, and inappropriate Jimmy for years - whether he’s a character or not. Aubrey is definitely allowed to change his feelings after reflecting on the experience. I will say I think it would have been more transparent of him to say that while he initially saw no problem, his feelings have changed since then. With no context, his video really does paint H3 as rather callous people but I do agree that Ethan shouldn't dismiss every "hater" as a clout chaser. He could learn to add more nuance to his comebacks in the future.
