The Provo River flows along the Provo Canyon from the Deer Creek Reservoir down into Utah Lake. This video was shot near and at the Bridal Veil Falls on Saturday, the 27th of May 2017 -- sadly, two days later a four year old child fell into the river and was killed. In addition, the little girls mother and a 30 year old man, who was a bystander, were also killed bringing the death toll to 3 on Memorial Day. For Christ sake people -- watch you kids like a hawk...
This years heavier the average snowfall was very much needed as the last few years provided lower than average snowfall and spring runoff, but the downside to heavier snow is a more powerful spring runoff and the tragedy that took place on Memorial Day was not the first such tragedy this year. Usually the tragedy begin when a child that is not being supervised closely enough falls into the frigid waters and then additional people are at risk when they jump in to save the child.
On a happier note this Provo River Parkway, a hiking and biking trail that follows the course of the Provo River for about 15 miles, is a beautiful scenic trail particularly in the canyon area. On weekends it is a popular place for families, couples and individuals to walk, ride bikes, and take pictures. On the day this video was shot the wind was pretty strong and you can see in the video in places how that produced a bit of jitters in the video.
Towards the end of the video, at about the 9:39 mark, the video captures a young adult Beaver swimming in a pond area just north of the Provo River channel.
