Thanks for this clearly presented review. I've used Grammarly for a few years now and like it a lot. For me, the only problem with Grammarly is that it will only work on relatively short amounts of text. From your review, I got the impression that ProWritingAid is not as restrictive in this regard...but even if that's the case, I just didn't like what I saw here of the ProWritingAid interface...so I guess I'll stay with Grammarly.

Agree that Prowriting Aid user experience is not as seamless as Grammarly. We have never seen an issue with a limit though. We have ran writing samples of over 50 pages before without an issue. What is the max you have tried?

@@gradehacker Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry my reply won't be helpful for you because I only used Prowriting Aid in a test situation and only with a file of about 20 pages. My experience with Grammarly though is that it can only work with somewhere around a few thousand words, when what I would like would be to use it for an entire book...maybe around 200,000 words.

@@thepurpleufo According to a quick Google search this is what we've found: The number of characters in the document must be lower than 100,000 (including spaces). Documents that exceed this limit can't be uploaded to the Grammarly Editor. To find out how to check the number of characters, check out this article. The size of your document doesn't exceed 4 MB. In our case, with the over 50 page sample it was because it had several charts, tables, and graphs for a thesis and research method paper. Either way, it looks like you would have to split up the upload to Grammarly into several instances. Not ideal but it could be worse in our opinion.

@@gradehacker Thanks...I didn't expect to get a response to my muddled earlier post. Yes, I know how to check the number of characters...and yes, splitting things up in order to get the text into Grammarly is what I've been doing...but it's a pain. Not a huge pain...but annoying. As you said, it could be worse, but I'm disappointed by the limitation...especially considering the price I'm paying to use Grammarly. Thanks again for your review and your reply to my post(s).

Hi, thanks for the video! It would be nice if you could also do a review of Wordvice AI! As I know, Wordvcie AI is launched in 2023, I wonder if there is any update between these three paraphrasing tools.

Do either of these tools allow you to define your target audience (e.g., middle grades) so that their suggestions are appropriate for that age group?

Both checkers are worth it. It depends on what you look for. When you want Grammarly to do X and Pro to do Y, and you want X, Grammarly will do. Both are as much useful and inaccurate. It really depends on the user's needs. Using them for creative projects won't be good. Spellcheckers sometimes overdo texts and use too much punctuation than needed. As long you know what you're doing, you're good. Just follow your thoughts' context.

She forgot to mention Grammarly only offers up to 2000 prompts so if you write 30+ articles a month this will be a bit of problem! Each article can have 100+ prompts if you write 2000 word blogs (and if your grammmar is bad). This is a deal breaker imo and something you need to consider. To my knowledge Prowriteraid is limitless.

Grammarly's plagiarism feature is of questionable value. I wrote some personal letters and Grammarly nailed me for plagiarizing half of what I wrote. LOL!

I work at a university that uses an automated plagiarism checker that they always assume is right which has lead to some people failing classes. I've tried explaining to them that there is so much writing out there that nearly everything can be found somewhere!

@@gradehacker grammarly is far better at punctuation. But prowritingaid gives more idea of how to write thing and gives you statistics of what you write. Depends if you're worse at grammar or writing. Bad at grammar? Use grammarly. Bad at writing ir want an assistant? Use prowritingaid.

Aren't these 'tools' just making us lazy? Soon, nobody know how to think for themselves. We'll all be too scared to make mistakes, and we'll all start sounding the same. To truly grow, we should be using our brains more, much the same way that we keep fit with physical exercise. Knowledge is power. Learn to do it to the best within your ability, and if you make a mistake, learn to fix it.

have you ever been to university? Do you have any idea how much more demanding student life has become, especially if you need a job on the side to sustain yourself? If you did, you wouldn't be saying anything like this. This comment reeks of someone who's got a very comfortable corporate job handed to them.

@@LittleBigPoet My comment was made by someone who has never been handed anything, and your comment was made by someone who missed the point. Anyway, I’d rather have the skill to do it myself than have a shortcut. If I were hiring someone, I’d rather hire someone who had the skill too. (And here’s an ‘H’ for your trouble.)

I can't stand Grammerly because it's aggressive, but ProWriting is worse. The suggestions are horrible without a premium subscription. As someone who's invested in the subscriptions, I find that the apps are just mediocre. The mediocrity is hidden behind a pay wall, unfortunately.
