I have a benchtop mill/drill machine. It's handy in the shop. I have a mainland clone of a RF-32. On the negative side it is not easy to move. On the stand it must weigh close to a half a ton.

@@pietpuck6456 I wanted it so I got it. It's not the greatest milling machine on the planet but it's still been handy to have. I really wouldn't want anything any bigger. I could get by with something smaller even. Like a Sieg X3. They're nice. If I had it to do all over again I'd get one of those. A square column benchtop mill. But I have taken advantage of the size occasionally. Once I refaced a big anvil on my mill. It was all dinged up and I made it like a mirror.

@@pietpuck6456 wood is an important material. It's what the machines of the First Industrial Revolution were largely constructed out of. So wood is where it all started. When you say Industrial Revolution to people they imagine machines made out of metal. But that didn't happen for 100 years. We conquered the world in wooden sailing ships. The only metal they had was swords and guns. Metal was so scarce they had to prioritize its use.

@@1pcfred hi paul, absolutely ! Wood is still an important product ! I started with metal as education, (mechanical engineering ) wood is self-taught, but I still love metal , I should love to get my hands on a milling machine , gives so much more freedom in different designs ! But paul , it is what it is ! Greetings Piet !!!
