90 years old and it still looks like a modern locomotive. Incredible!

and with a little love and care it would run as good as what they are using now and would out pull any thing they got now. but like every thing some idiot said we don't need this any more and they got rid of them so some company can make millions.

Used to watch these beauties fly through the station in Metuchen, NJ……One time I was a bit too close to that yellow line and one of these snuck up behind me, scary moment. I saw this one at Strasburg, PA

A styling masterpiece , she deserves a complete cosmetic repaint with the five pin stripes at the very least.

What bothers me the most about this is 4800 is the class locomotive and the one that sold PRR on the design. Why it is stored , exposed to the elements and has been for decades. A pole barn at the very least to keep the rain and snow at bay.

The Museum doesn't have the exact funds to build that

They have had the funds for OVER 3 years now. FACT.

shame they can't get one of these old soldiers running again. PCB's in transformer oil is a major obstacle I understand. would be a truly awesome sight racing the Acela

4800 looks pretty good for being the oldest GG1. I think the last time I saw her was 2015, at Strasburg.

It's truly a shame that the GG1 will likely never see operating service again.

Perhaps, but you never know. That statement was made many times over the yrs about the Big Boys too.

if they can build a T1 steam engine from scratch, I think there's hope for this loco haha
@_chan.burn.21_ Жыл бұрын
@@rockguitarist931 True, but the amount of engineering and design work it would take to outfit the GG1 with modern electric equipment while maintaining its existing appearance would be quite the undertaking.

I Wish there where Amtrak p42dcs to take this gg1 4800 to Altoona, PA and it will be repainted into a PRR/Penn Central/Conrail 4800 and in the back it wi be the PRR logo and on the other back of the back side, in the middle it will be the pen central logo and it will be on the other middle side, and in the front it will be the conrail logo and it will be on the other front side

Gg1 4800 needs to be moved by 20 Amtrak p42DCs from New haven ct and they will take it to the conrail shops and it will have new pantographs and it will have a new speedometer that goes from 0mph to 180mph and also it will be the fastest conrail gg1 EVER and at 180mph it overheats and the pantograph has to much electricity and when it passes it at 181mph it's pantograph exsplodes and it will be a half exsploded and at 170mph it overheats and the beeping noise begins to start and it can reach from 68mph to 165mph and it will pull conrail freight for stations to be built and also some trains are gonna be used in the keystone corridor between New york, Philadelphia, harrisburg, columbus, Ohio, indiana, chicago, and ottowa, CA
