There wasn't a doubt about this. It's literally why they went and got Brissett. There's no need to put Drake Maye behind a team who's made up of chewing gum and paper clips. We don't need another incident like we did with Mac Jones. Say what you will about him, but if we had done better, maybe he would've too. But that's in the past. No point to keep harping on it. Maye can sit, Brissett can start and it's no big deal

Problem is they leave the league in salary cap space and they rank dead last in real money spending. No wonder they don't have a roster that's viable so they have to hide their future quarterback. Drake Maye has shown enough elite level talent pre-season that I'm totally fine with him sitting for 8-10 weeks, and not getting injured or rattled his rookie year behind the worst O-line in football. The key is developing him this year and then drafting Will Campbell (LSU), or trading out to a team starving for a QB (Giants, Steelers, Dolphins, Raiders).

Mayo sees color when making decisions. He said it the day he was hired. So the white QB out plays the black QB by everyone’s account however the black QB is given the starting job. Throw in a rookie qb right away with high expectations can go wrong whether he us successful or not. Maybe he thinks too high of himself if he performs well and gets all media glory. Or gets discouraged when people are questioning if he can fill that role. I think Green Bay is a great example of a high quality qb system. Rodgers watched Favre. Love watched Rodgers. They've had top tier qbs since the 90s

Will have a high draft pick that you they can trade back and get more picks to reinforce the oline or get a true number 1 receiver. Also have a ton of cap space to use in free agency and you can get someone like Tee Higgins to be your number 1.
