I've owned a ficus since the 80s and it was already 10 years when I got that. I thought this was quite informative and picked up things I never realized.

I love the way you explain what you're doing. This will help me to prune my own ficus, thank you.

The finished tree came out looking terrific. I like how you held up the branches to fill in the holes and bring it up. Thank you so much for sharing!

Wow 11 year old video and still very helpful!! was given one of these today that was given to a family member at my aunt's funeral that couldn't keep it around their pets. From top of soil to highest leaf it's only 31" so far. I'll be taking good care of it ☺️

Our building was fumigated 10 weeks ago and someone left this outside in a broken pot. Lol we saved it tonight as heroic novice tree owners. Thank you for just laying it out.

How is it doing a couple of years out? I leave mine outside all summer and it fills in nicely. Then I bring it inside and try to keep it alive all winter! I barely water it during the winter as I found out the hard way - that could kill it! Let me know how it's doing!

@@sallydavidson4471 it is absolutely thriving!! I did a significant prune for shaping, and now I have a few baby ficuses as well!❤️

I love my ficus tree so much! I am not normally a big fan of house plants, but there is something just so charming about my ficus! I think it is imbued with magic, like the species grew, originally, in some faerie dell. Anyhow, I think what is so splendid about it is that it really is a tree! A bona fide tree. If I were the size of an elf, it would be a wonderful tree to sit up against, and smoke my pipe, like a hobbit; or read a book; or just have a nap and a daydream against its pretty trunk.

I bet she’s fun at block party’s! I’d cut that plant at the base, repot it six inches higher out of the dirt; stick it in the sun with a bigger pot of water underneath, feed it and grow an amazing plant that will look good anywhere in your house.

Thanks for the video. I am going to trim or have been trimming my ficus tree. Which is pretty big outside. Perhaps I need to see other videos of such trimming for outside ficus trees. :) I thought you video was fine. Gosh, why do people complain. This is KZbin, it is not a professional place to put up professional videos! thanks for your video. I appreciated it!

Is there any way to make the trunk shorter? My ficus is outgrowing it’s pot and I want to make it about have the existing size. It’s currently about six feet tall and not very leafy.

I agree with this. Despite the video shows an enormous will to help , it misses on details like were to place the cuts and how. Too dark and too far away shots. It could have used some post editing for the cuts or just be patient and zoom in to show the whole thing. It appeared the person filming the thing doesn't know what's going on.

Being shown where she's making the cuts so we can understand why, would have been helpful.

why don't you just get a book?? there are these places called libraries (ly - br - air - eez) that have these things called books - you open them, they have pages with writing on them - about 1000 times the amount of writing on this whole comments section. Imagine that! And they are usually written by experts; people who have oftentimes even dedicated their lives to the subject. Might want to take a look in your public library before it's bulldozed to the ground. … or you could just ask random assholes on the internet your questions. :7

You have to pull out the plant from the pot, if you see many roots there is to put it into a bigger one 🙂

I have a 15 yr old Ficus tree and let me tell you, it is gorgeous and full. What you r doing 2 your tree, is so wrong. You cut so many lovely branches. I cannot believe that u r literally showing people how to destroy their Ficus tree, to make it look good, YOUR way? wow. What a shame! TruthLives.
@cormorant_on_arock79346 жыл бұрын
omg, are not they just so lovely, ficus tree branches :) I would love to *shape* my ficus - as in, direct where it grows - but never to just go about hacking off its branches!

Yes, I thought I was me. But that's my reaction too. Too brutal. It was “healthy “ before she touched it. She didn't bring healthiness to it.

Lady, I can’t see where you’re trimming! Get that camera in so we can see where the heck to cut. I’m still hesitant to cut my overgrown ficus. You aren’t being simple enough. Assume we know nothing like what the heck is an internodal(??) ? Such a waste of time.
@imnew2nm3242 жыл бұрын
You need to video in closer so people can see what you are actually cutting, not useful at all to a novice. I am sorry, but none of us are interested your shirt and gloves.
