Pruning a red flowering currant

This is the first plant placed at Trickle Creek Acres. I do NOT claim to be an expert. Pruning gives me anxiety. But in fact, you SHOULD prune your red flowering currant AFTER it blooms. I do believe a good rule of thumb is to remove a third of the new growth, but, as I said, I am NOT an expert.
