Those are great looking vines. Im trying to claim some wild ones in the yard. How do I know if they are male or female?
@agoutside5192 Жыл бұрын
If they are wild they are self pollinating (male). Good luck with them

Great video. I was just wondering if you said take the limb down the wire in one direction. My question is does each plant go down the wire in the same direction, or does the each plant go both ways?
@agoutside5192Ай бұрын
Good question. Each plant grows down the wire about 10 feet in each direction.

I have a small lot and 6 plants. Can I do 2 plants per row at 10 feet?
@agoutside5192Ай бұрын
@@bernicemoney6527 You need to dedicate 20 feet per plant so they can grow out 10 feet each side. If you’re cramped for space you do 14 feet and 7 feet each side.

I was about to ask about the barbed wire. I figured it was deer, but raccoons makes more sense. I've got 5 vines I planted in 2020. One I replanted with another variety this year. Most made it down the trellis. My only regret was row spacing and my arrangement. I planted them 8 foot from my fence so they are diagonal to it. Basically I made a rectangle with vines crossing it diagonal. It is just 5 rows for 5 vines 20 feet wide by 80-84 foot long. I had them going north to south which is diagonal to the fence, but as much sun as we get I could have made 2-3 rows parallel to the fence (northeast to southwest) like you did and probably fit about 8 vines. Even with the diagonal scheme I might have been able to narrow the row spacing and squeezed in two or three more vines. The current setup does look nice, but it is wasted space. Live and learn. Thanks for the content.

It sounds like a pretty good set up. Don’t be so hard on yourself 😊. Those 5 vines will supply you with more than enough muscadines than you can handle and 5 vines will be easy to maintain over the years. Thanks for your comment!
