Sweet plants! I've heard that cutting the first bines will take care of powdery mildew laying dormant in the buds from the previous season. I've been growing Alpharoma/Rakau, Cascade, Centennial, Pacific Gem, Neo-Mexacanus/Medusa, Sterling, and Tripple Perle for three years now. Growing hops is another level of involvement, and sense of pride behind brewing a batch. Keep it up Doc!

Yes that's what I've heard also. Some cool hops in your garden. I ordered another Swedish hop to plant. Yes it's so cool brewing with homegrown hops. Maybe one day I could even grow my own barley. Cheers and thanks!

The gardener is back...great success!! It's nice to see how you take care of your hops and it will be really nice to see how you like eating the bull shoots!! Cheers! 👍😛🍺

Great information Johnny - as usual. My family farm (established already back in when Finland was under the Swedish Crown) had huge hop garden. I will now look into it if there are still wild hops growing and if could dig some up. Cheers from Finland - Antti

Grandma also has some at the end of a old barn, that are from older garden. Apparently it could be used for some tax alleviations at some point under the Swedish rule. Maybe I will try to get some sort of clippings and see what happens.

"Tree bark"...English speakers in America in general call this "mulch". Most people refer to this specific product you're using as "bark mulch". Many English speakers don't know the differences between different types of mulch, and wood chips. Ein Gutes Video!

@@DrHansBrewery keep up the good work! Just started growing 3 hop varieties in late summer (I hope they survive Michigan's winter, probably not the best idea). If I have issues.. ich hoffe das ich mich an den Artz wenden könnte! ;)

Mid april is a good time to come through and cut the Bull Bines (which it looks like you have a lot of here!), early April (depending on latitude) to just cut it all back. A lawnmower makes it easy when your stuff is ground level like this... assuming you aren't eating the shoots :)

Have you tried eating them?

Yes I know! I do that a lot. It's a common Swedish mistake we do when we try to talk English. Don't really know why as we say v and not w in Swedish. Something to work on. But I forget to think about it everytime I turn on the camera. Cheers!
