That is one cool looking GSF. Pruning a small forest like this is time consuming but well worth it in the long run. This forest is in great hands with the surgical skills of Dr. Saunders.

The old blue scissors to the rescue. The forest is looking good. I enjoyed the updates too. Thanks, keep growing

wonder why not 'proper' bonsai scissors though?
@mattbrennan6476 ай бұрын
@@annas7892 my understanding is that the large scissors are used for profile pruning where they can get the job done quickly and efficiently. Specific bonsai tools will be used when branch selection and structural pruning are required. Thanks, keep growing

Think they slowly getting some little bit thicker lol. As you said think these giants don't fancy getting pruned alot :) Don't give up, they are fine planting.

With the warmer weather, your trees are developing some nice color. Sugar Maples. Maple syrup next spring? You will need a small tap though. It would be nice though. I wonder if you could make a small tap for the tree for looks with a person and a bucket next to it.

Nice the way you get air flow through the greenhouse. Watering in the heat of the day is a much needed for the trees.

It is amazing that those Sequoias are all the same age. Genetic variation in seeds is fascinating!
@jazzrat20006 ай бұрын
You got that right! Mine were so genetically varied that none ever came up from a seed that I ever got. I thought that I could grow them here, but nope. Zone 9 in the United States. Ouch.

I'm from the United States, and I'm old enough to remember driving through the Sequoia tree that had a road through it in the California redwoods! I always wanted to have a cool little forest like this, but I can't get anything to grow that goes in those forests. right now I'm using mostly Mayan spinach, which means my forest is 2 to 3 feet tall when I get done.

I'm looking forward to what this forest will look into. Maybe a scene from Jurassic Park? I'm trying to propagate sequoia / redwood recently but I haven't been that successful yet. The updates to your benches look good, too!

Always enjoy your updates/walks through your collection...Really nice forest...I would think that Sequoia's would be slow growers...Either way its a very nice setting...How many time a day do you water during these heat spells? Very enjoyable to watch you work...Thanks

Very nice! The only ones of those I ever had were those that come in the little bonsai kits that you get on ebay. I never had a single plant come up from any one of those seeds from any of the packs that I ever got. There's a message in there somewhere for me. I just need to buy 10 more packs to find out what it is :)

Hi Nigel, Percy here from South Africa. How did you germinate them? I have seeds, tried the cold stratification with no luck. You have South African succulents like Portulacaria afra and have our Southern Africa Ficus like Ficus burtt-davyi and Ficus natalensis and acacias the fever tree in Canada. And I'm struggling to grow North American trees lol. I really would some day have all the Redwoods of North America and the North American maple trees, that is my goal some day.
