That’s a lot of carnage for such a small tree 😊 Thanks, keep growing

Very nice tree, and well done with cleaning up the roots. Any chance for a source/project of that pot? It’s a really intresting one :)

Hey. What ever happened to that giant turntable you had? That was cool.

I tried splitting the potato roots on my ficus rather than carving it. Then I wedged them apart, one with a wooden wedge, one with lager pieces of bonsai soil aggregate. So far it’s looking good but it has only been about a year since I tried it.
@jameswalker34169 ай бұрын
They do this in India. Ive got a couple cuttings started the same way.
@brianmooney55529 ай бұрын
@@jameswalker3416 I think I saw a video a few years back that split the base of a cutting in 4ths and wedged them apart . Is that what you’re referring to? It developed a good radial root distribution and a flair at the base of the trunk from the wedges. I might try that if I ever have a cutting bigger than a pencil.
@jameswalker34169 ай бұрын
@brianmooney5552 yep, that's it. I haven't repotted them yet to see the root base.

Hey Nigel I was very much impressed from your root over temple ficus and got the similar looking ficus. I just want to know the right season to repot it to a bonsai pot? Can I repot it now? It’s Mid Winter here and temp ranges between 24 Centrigrade in the morning to 10C at night Thanks

Great work on this tree. Do you think one of those fat bulbous roots would grow for you as a mini bonsai? Fat trunk on it already. Just curious.
@TheBonsaiZone9 ай бұрын
They can grow from root cuttings, but it is hard to do and you need a bit of luck!!!

Thanks for the stl file for this pot Nigel!!! I've been really wanting to try to print. Hopefully you find the files for the columns, I have little to no skills designing for the 3D!

I see your tree like a Garden Gnome. Above the thick root is a pair of eyes. In the end, the split roots look more like his beard😂 I like your video ❤

Wow, what a difference removing the upper part made. Now it looks like it was always meant to be styled like this.

I have to say, and I'm not trying to be unpolite here, it's just my first feeling I got, to me it's a bit shocking to see that a tree after 24 years of professional training might still look like that. Overall the tree looks horrible FOR ITS AGE! especially the roots.
@Stettafire9 ай бұрын
I think certain trees are like that, even after years they're still a bit meh (though I kinda like the gnarled twisted look) but some trees are really easy by comparison.
