Pruning Tall Summer Phlox aka Garden Phlox

Tall Summer Phlox, also called Garden Phlox, are the princesses of the summertime garden, with their vibrant colors and lush panicles. Tall Phlox grow from 3' to 4' and are native to North America and thrive in zones 4 to 8. Give them well drained, rich soil and full sun, and they'll reward with fragrant blossoms in lavender, pink, red, white, purple--a rainbow of colors. Tall phlox make great cut flowers, too. Watch out for mildew; remember to water your plants at the roots, not on the leaves. Happy Gardening, blessed be, River Lady

Congratulations. Tall summer phlox rock. Give them plenty of sun and room too avoid overcrowding by other plants. Make sure you water them at the base of the plant and deadhead spent blossoms. Oh dear, I am so excited for you i am repeating info from the video. 😍

What a lovely garden! I am so glad I found your videos and subscribed. I have been gardening for 40+ years and you have taught me something today :) I love phlox and my favourites are the new Luminary series. I have the white called "Backlight" and the pink called "Opalescence" , no mildew and no browning of leaves and they bloom forever it seems. Hello from Canada zone 6

This is so helpful as I have just bought some bare root flox that arrived yesterday!! How exciting (and yet logical) to extend the bloom time simply by staggering when you prune it! I like how you plant different colors and types of flox together. I will consider doing so in my garden. Are flox good companion plants to roses? I know not all roses like to share the show. Oh I love hummingbird moths. Cool insects. Be sure to check out the new cultivars of tall phlox. They’re supposed to be mildew resistant, better than past varieties. Happy gardening 🌼
