With regards to dialing in the settings, that thing comes out of the box with presents that are pretty much bang on the money to begin with. That's partly why its such a fantastic buy. There really isn't a lot to tweak. Well apart from your retracts but thats the easy bit :) Its great to see you're having a good time with it.

Thanks for the review, that is the printer that I've pretty much chosen for myself but just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Sooo many ideas, Sooo little time, lol but soon. Thanks again!

dts1449 GREAT PRINTER You can get the prusa i3 mk2s with fast shipping on eBay now pre assembled almost same price as buying from prusa considering import tax and the shipping they charge. the one in ebay ships with 6 spools filament. Search prusa i3 mk2s on eBay and go down there is one for 1100 pre assembled

Good video. I've purchased Hatchbox and Matterhacker filament. Haven't used any Inland yet. My favorite thus far is Matterhacker Pro. My second printer is due here by August. Bought the same kit you did from Prusa. I've owned a QIDI X-one since Feb. It's been a pretty good little printer. Look forward to your next video.
@MakersBench7 жыл бұрын
Thank you. For $15, the Inland seems to be very well worth it. Maybe not as splashy color wise as some of the others, but for prints that don't have to look super awesome, I think this may be my go to. I have heard good things about the QIDI, I looked at them before I bought the Prusa. Who knows, maybe when I can justify another printer.

nice video. I'm in my first month of printing steep learning curve for me but doing well. wish I had the MK2 I just have a Anet A6 and with a few mods it is printing well. Prusa is in my future I think next year.

Interesting to watch while I wait on my own Prussa MK2S kit. (11 weeks since order and it's stuck in Cologne while UPS waits for the weather to clear. ) I had already occupied myself by buying $15 Inland filament at the Minneapolis MicroCente which is a 10 minute walk fro my home.
@MakersBench7 жыл бұрын
Good luck with your new Prusa, if you enjoy it half as much as I have enjoyed mine, you will be very happy. I know waiting is tough. My wife is from Bloomington and we love going to Micro Center when we are in town. We went in there a couple of weeks ago and I didn't even realize they had filament there. Thanks for the comment.

I just stumbled on your vid. Nice review thanks. is it fairly easy to level? I've watched a ton of vids on this machine and it looks very user friendly. Bed levelling is one of my concerns. I have a Monoprice and it is an exercise in frustration to level it. When it works it's great, but I have wasted a ton of pla doing so. Thanks for the vid !

Hey Chad. Thank you very much for all your uploads and contribution to the maker community! I am by trade a centerless grinder/machinist. Just about to take the plunge into 3D printing. Your videos from the beginning has been very helpful in my decision to go with the prusa. I've also barely getting into Fusion360 and teaching myself with the help of KZbin and Google. I was so stoked to hear your background in CAD and so far watched 5 videos on both the printer and F360 since subscribing yesterday! Thank you again! Would you be able to show how you go from start to finish from a simple CAD design to the next program (splicer?) to uploading into the prusa? I'm curious to see what steps are needed to go from idea/CAD to finish product in your hand. What program is needed in between Fusion and Prusa? Thanks again for any info. I'm glad I was able to subscribe from near beginning of your channel. I can see you have great content and learning so much. Paul
@MakersBench7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. I can certainly put a video together showing that process, it's pretty straightforward. I appreciate the request, and will do my best to get it out this week. Good luck with the Prusa, I can wait to hear how it goes for you.

Thanks Chad! Another question, would you recommend I modify/upgrade the bearings from the beginning during my initial setup or use the stock bearings?
@MakersBench7 жыл бұрын
If you feel confident doing the upgrade, I would recommend it. I love the bearings. The only thing I have found is that after a while of running the printer, I needed to clean the rails. I just wiped them down with some rubbing alcohol. The rails had gotten a little gummed up. I don't know if it was the bearings or plastic residue. But it was making my printer fail on the initial 9 point calibration on the beginning of the print. It's been fine again since I cleaned the rails.

What changed between the first Benji and the second Benji that made the second so much better?
@MakersBench6 жыл бұрын
I'm not positive, my only guess is that the filament absorbed some moisture on the outer coils of the spool, and once those peeled off, the rest was fine.

Hey, I am new at 3d printing and I use to have a Robo C2, which was defective, then a Maker Ultimate (rebranded Wanhao D6) and it was defective, then I had another Maker Ultimate which jammed, and another Maker Ultimate that broke within one day. Can I trust Prusa and get the Mk3? I do not want to go through that crap of packaging and carrying a forty pound 3d printer to the UPS store 3 times.
@MakersBench6 жыл бұрын
I can only speak from the experience from the machine I have. I did have one problem with my machine when I first got it running. That problem was the hot end would not heat up. Prusa sent me a new heater cartridge and I was up and running. That being said, these printers have a lot of moving parts and things can go wrong. But, I have found Prusa's customer service to be fantastic. Speaking for myself, I would personally not hesitate to purchase another 3D Printer from Prusa. Aside from the fact that in my opinion, they make a great machine, the more important fact is they stand behind it. Good luck.
@Soggstermainia7 жыл бұрын
In relation to the stringing I would bump up the retraction for those filaments, or maybe tweek the retraction speed.
@MakersBench7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I haven't been home much lately, so haven't had much printing time. But, when I get some more printing time I will definitely be doing some experimenting with settings. I do plan to do some videos about that.
@Soggstermainia7 жыл бұрын
Makers Bench considering the prints run themselves its amazing how much time you need to spend to get them going and post precessing and tweeking. I look forward to you video's!

Hey Chad: Great video. I'm considering the purchase of one of these particular printers so it was very helpful. I did want to ask you a question that I've asked other youtubers who have bought and reviewed this 3D printer but have yet to have anyone answer. That is, when you bought your printer, was it shipped from the Czech-Republic to the United States? I'm asking because I was wondering if you also had to pay an import tax on top of the price you paid for the printer itself. I've saved up for the printer and the shipping cost but if there's an import tax on top of that, I'm wondering how much more I can expect to pay for this item. Can you impart a little hands on wisdom to this 3D newbie?

I'm glad you found it helpful. Let me know how it goes, if you get one.

@jotham1237 жыл бұрын
Stock temperatures should work just fine for what you're doing. Try increase retracts by an extra 0.5 to about 2mm. That should fix it just fine. I've had this before. Sometimes going lower on the temp helps too. nothing drastic just 5C at a time..

How do you clean the hotbed? Which solution is the best?
@MakersBench6 жыл бұрын
I usually wipe the bed down with isopropyl alcohol before I start a print, while the bed is still cool. I would say once every other month, I do a thorough cleaning with acetone. Make sure to take proper precautions with acetone, read the bottle.
@Victor_Marius6 жыл бұрын

taking the spool off the top if first step to better layers, i mean it has to pull that spool. if the carriage moved up 0.1mm while it pulled the filament that's noticeable... it would be a repeat pattern though sorta... x movement can pull it which is fine. .

I have the multi material upgrade coming, so the spools will be getting moved. Because I know it's coming, I haven't done anything to move the spools yet.

I will, it's supposed to ship at the end of this month or the beginning of September (I ordered it in the beginning of March, when I ordered my printer). What I dont understand. These machines are $1200+ The parts you printed are worth 15 cents and have almost no use. Do you think you are getting your moneys worth? Why are you not printing useful items?
@MakersBench7 жыл бұрын
This machine cost me $700. It's still a decent amount of money, and what maybe what you call "useful" is different than what I or others call "useful". Personally, I chose to get this machine because I wanted to. I do 3D CAD for a living, so it makes sense to me to understand this technology. I'm currently working on a Boba Fett helmet project. There will be another video soon, but it's taking a long time to print the parts. This project though "useful" to me, may not be to others. If you don't find it worthwhile to get one, then you don't have to. But that doesn't make other people wrong if they decide it's useful to them.
