Does this have the same ver. 3 sensor as the prw 3000 series from 10 years ago?

I really do wish Casio could make something to compete with the garmin instinct while keeping the ability to change the battery.

I am a huge fan of Casio, and bought over 20 watches including G-shock, protrek, but this is too light and I feel like this a toy watch. I like PRW-30's weight and finishing much more than this.

Too power consuming for 100% solar powered watch with current technology, especially the heart rate part. You probably have to wait 3-5 years for that. Would appreciate 3-D projecting magnetometer for the compass so it doesn't have to be held almost completely horizontal though, plus self calibration. This should be doable today already with an improved watch module. PRW-35 not very interesting for me; I already have a PRW-30 and this seems to be the same module in a very slightly smaller package? Anyone know if there are other differences from the '30?

How we can see the level of battery ?
@djswvh4 ай бұрын
At the bottom of the screen there is an indicator, its a small letter. L = Low, M= medium, H=high (H is displayed in this video). There is also an indication for 'very low' with functions being disabled. If you wear it daily it will stay on high even in winter and should last 8+ months in the dark.
@alexxrmo31224 ай бұрын
@@djswvh yes, but if you look at the watch, on the display there are small lines that go clockwise, that's what I'm talking about

problem with heart rate sensor is battery life. I prefer current functions rather with such a longed battery life
@tobiasra1 Жыл бұрын
Well. Those that want watches with an extended feature set, but on the other hand have to be charged a few times a month, will buy those. There is a huge offering of them on the market for around $300. Solar protrek line is something else entirely - free standing outdoor watches with basic ABC functionality which pretty much is what all-solar operation allows for right now. Buy once, enjoy for fifteen years without maintenance (estimated life of the solar battery cell). This line will probably offer heart rate and step counter eventually, but tech will have to catch up 3-5 years for it to be power efficient enough to run from solar only. If they ever throw bluetooth and computer sync into the mix it must be a completely optional feature that is completely disableable or the line will lose many users and customers. It's not like every outdoorsman is a tech head.

Downgrading of stopwatch function to just 1/10s precision since the deployment of Gen3 sensors, is a big NO-NO. So if the PRW-3500/3510 is off the list then so does this 35 (and other subsequent models)...... Shame on Casio for constantly (and systematically) downgrading its modules from time to time......
@tobiasra1 Жыл бұрын
Hmm. This has nothing to do with the Gen3 sensor or a "downgrade of the module". It is very likely just a conscious design decision due to the watch face of this model. Expand size of digits and have one less for it to be more legible. Very few users probably care about 1/100 stopwatch. It's just a gimmick. For that level of precision you need high speed cameras monitoring a race, not a referee pressing a little watch button at finish line.... 1/10 is an excellent sweet spot for a push button stopwatch, in my opinion. I remember during the 90s, Casio had 1/1000 stopwatches in its line. Meaningless. But if you prefer a Gen3 sensor + 1/100 stopwatch you might want to look at the ana-digi Pro Trek equivalents. My PRW-50 has it. Others: PRW-60, PRW-6900Y.
